Muhlenberg County

Hi all,
In some notes it has been stated that Muhlenberg County, KY is in Appalachia, which is not the case. Muhlenberg County is in Western KY, not too far from the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers. Strip mining was quite the blight on the land when I was growing up. There has been some restoration since those horrible days. Appalachian coal mining. On the other hand, tends to be deep rock mining. Also eco unfriendly but not as horribly destructive as the strip mining in Western KY and western Illinois. You can find the John Prine Memorial Park pictures on line.
