Chris and Tony, great jobs! I have always loved MB.
Nights in White Satin, final song on the concept album "Days of Future Passed". The album starts with darkness, the rising sun at daybreak, follows through a whole day and ends at night, again in darkness. One of my all-time, favorite, best-loved, and most-played albums! With the London Festival Orchestra as accompaniment, WOW!
("Cold-hearted orb that rules the night, removes the colors from our sight; Red is grey and yellow white, but we decide which is right, and which is an illusion." ...) Great memories.
Anyway, good job, loved it.

Neverfoundthetime,
Fantastic job!! You nailed at getting all the simple parts successfully layered together which when put together make the song sound so complex. Bravo and well done. Nice use of studio tricks.
I am also a a great Moodies fan, guitarist, and digital music producer. I design websites and multi-media events. Finishing up on a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Az.
Over the years I've had the good fortune to hear the Moodies (with Mike Pinder) perform this song LIVE. The timing is tricky on stage with 5 musicians singing and playing. But when it's successfully accomplished then it's waay cool. Find it on YouTube.
Keep on keepin on.

Thank you Michael, praise indeed from someone with your knowledge! This was my first attempt at putting parts of a song together and there is so much I'd like to improve on it but it was fun. I did find a live version of the Moodies playing this at the Isle of Weight festival in '69 ... but I thought it sounded awful! I've never seen the boys live, except for Justin Hayward... I sang with him at Art on Ice as he sang Nights in White Satin... but he didn't know about it as I was underneath the bleachers off stage!
. Thanks for listening in.

WOW!!,
I cant believe as many times as I've watched this Thread this is my first response. But I looked back, and yep nothing there.Sooooo
Bravo!! Chris what a fantastic job.Cant even imaging the time it took to put that all together. But well worth the effort. It was just mind blowing stuff.Thank you.

Chris busking the Moody Blues greatest song and maybe the best love song of all time... Nights in White Satin
Last session for a while. This has always been one I wanted to do a video of... for some reason never found the time until now I guess. This time I recorded into the lap top and camera at the same time to get a live recording and synced the sound and video in AVS. I left the camera sound track on and added a reverb to the audio I recorded wit Audition and the sound seems ok like that. Halfway through, at the transition to the solo, I screwed up the chord sequence but just restarted from the beginning of the solo with out stopping and then just edited that fluff out of the video and soundtrack (which is why you see a slight jump in the vid at that point). I couldn't re-sync the audio and video properly after making the cut so I just muted the video from then on in. Sounds ok though.
Guitar is tuned down 2 half steps (for New Horizons) and capo is on 1st fret so this is effectively a half step down from the original and Neil's lesson.
