Haha, you'll be in trouble with the umpire, but I sure loved it!

Very nice guitarplaying and yeah I could tell Krista really lóves the song, haha  :P ! What a good sport though! ;)

Cori and Krista,
That old fashioned feel was very cool. Nice job hitting those high notes Krista! Now I have a craving for Taco Bell!

Traditional song: "Frankie & Johnny"
This one is old as the hills...
It really is ancient. (1912, supposedly)

Everybody and their dog has done a version of this tune. Elvis, Johnny Cash, and Hank Snow, & Sam Cook to name a few.

It's been as a blues shuffle a lot of times too. But, I like the more old-timey approach that we tried for here.

For the record, Krista pretty much hated this song. (if you watch the video closely you can tell she's getting kinda perturbed. Plus by this time, she was burping up some serious taco bell on this take. LOL!
But she was good enough to do it.

EDIT: I'd better get this in, before the Commissioner of the "Chord Police" shows up...(just kidding, Daryl lol!)

I did go over the limit...but the repetitive nature of the tune sure makes it seem like far less.
The chords used in this version of "Frankie & Johnny" are primarily: C, Cdim, Caug, F, Adim7, ....
The G chord moves from G> G7/B>Gaug but no big whoop there. Anyways that is pretty much it...except for the brief half-step slide from C#dim > Cdim

Cori
It's like beating a dead horse. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

I guess I just have to realize that only Chris and I understand the numbers "3" and "4". Oh well.....carry on...as you were....enjoy the party.....nevermind that guy in the corner with the clipboard......

BTW nice guitar playing and singing you two. :)

Wow, I cannot keep up with this thread. Every time I log in it seems like there are 48 new posts. But I have watched many of the performances in here and enjoyed them all. Without commenting specifically on any one performance, the look Krista gives Cori at the end of "Frankie and Johnny" is priceless!! That made my day all by itself!! :silly:

Daryl, Michele adjusted her thread to 'easy and simple'-songs, every song in here matches that! Pffffffff....... :S

Chris- Thank You for your kind words. I like the old-timey stuff, too. I asked Krista if she would ever think about doing this
song at open mic someday. And she said "No-way Jose! I'm like geez, not even if we really practice the heck out of it
and spruce it up a bit?..."Nope." I think she's wrong on this one. I think we need some old-timey in the repertoire...

Tom- Thanks alot, Tom! Alright, Krista's choice it is, next time! She wanted me to learn Dolly Parton's"Jolene." But I ain't got it
up to speed. The lead on that sucker really cooks! Speaking of female choices...what kinda of of stuff does Claire like?
I haven't given up on that collaboration idea with her & Krista singing something. (Whataya think?) b.t.w. Daryl you
will be happy to know if Krista & I were to put up Jolene it is 3 chord song.lol!

Craig- You wouldn't of been craving Taco Bell if you could of got a whiff of her burrito breath like I did...just kidding it was
only moderately stinking. Foul odor is usually my department. lol! Glad you liked the old-timey playing & the high
notes. Thanks Craig!!

Daryl- I thought maybe you would go easy on me this time....seeing that this was my first violation/infraction. Afterall, the
other two songs were SOLID threes! LOL! Thanx, & glad you liked it.

Vanessa- Thank You very much, my friend! Always nice to get favorable guitar playing comments from you. Means alot!
And thanks for the nice comments about K's vocals whether she was into the tune or not. lol!

Scott_ Oh, so you saw those daggers she was shooting me huh, Scott!? lol!

Aiaiai, snooze and you loose Shel would say! :( Have actually thought of this song 'Running to stand still', one of my favorites by U2, absolutely love to sing that one and I'd finally would have obeyed the umpire....

Nice one Chris! :)
In my humble (video junkie) opinion, you shouldn't let the fact that Chris has posted a version of this song stop you from posting one too. That is especially true if your version is quite different to Chris'. I know I'd love to see it.

Just for the record, I'd love to see other people's versions of The Joker; that includes you Mark and those of you who asked me for more info about how to play it...you know who you are. :).

Its all good.

I've been loving this thread. It seems that every time I log in to TG it has 34 new postings. Hmmmm... I wonder if that's a bug in the mix or some subtle reminder of 3 or 4 chords....

I love all the videos I've seen posted and would love to join you. I just need to figure out what easy songs I have and find a place with no wind to record.

The blooper videos were really great and so was the one Ness did with the mistakes. . . . LOL

Keep it going!

Even though I got her doing this when she probably should be studying for her radiology tests...

Anways, enough rambles

The words well...there 's so many verses & versions of his song i wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks!!

Cori

Cori - you're a lucky, lucky, lucky man, Krista obviously loves you. She's a keeper. Aahhhhh, next time you might want to pick a song that doesn't require you to check in with Krista every two seconds to make sure that she's still participating and not off to get a frying pan.

This cracked me up. Actually Krista's expressions were just priceless; all of them. Her voice was so beautiful and spot on even when she was rolling her eyes with that "why am I DOING this SONG" expression.

Great sound. Really nice 'olde time" feel. Very cute.

Nice one.

BTW - I LOVE the way you are both getting into this challenge.

:)
