WARNING:
- CRAPPY singing - YIKES!! - be kind to your dogs, cover their little ears or keep them at a safe distance - I didn't do myself any favors by playing it so slowly either.
- smile free zone - I was actually feeling crappy/low energy - although I could have saved a tonne by getting rid of the grimace ... back to smile school.

Exactly what the hell are you talking about? You did a great job on this song -- and I found your playing and singing so enjoyable that I watched the video three times. And, believe me, I'm no masochist. Among the many things that impressed me was your flatpicking, which I've never heard you do before, yet you managed to coax legato notes out of a technique that's usually impossible for beginners to achieve.

Hi pierre

that was GREAT you had me swaying away to that your rhythm was awesome.. what i could hear of the singing sounded really good too, but the volume was a bit low to fully enjoy it.. as you are just shooting your first cam it takes awhile to get everything sorted and like the guitar what you can do with tech is endless have fun..

and please post more it was very enjoyable just wish i could have turned it up louder :(

Yay, Pierre! I loved it. That's a song I haven't heard in about 35 years, and your version reminds me of how much beauty and longing there is in that song. I loved your guitar arrangement, and my only wish is that your voice had been a little louder.

Really. So nice.

Dennis,

I never feel a post is complete until I've received a comment from you. You always know just what to say to put a smile on my face. Yep - there's a big one planted there right now. Thank you so much and YES Sir I promise to stop putting my singing down and I will write that 100 times.

Re: the flat picking, I think I must have soaked up a thing or two from this site; Neil's lessons and watching others do their thing.

Thanks.

Michele

35 years ! .... well I guess that's possible, but I will never admit to it ...

and so the question in "Harvest" is: what beauty do we really long for ? ...

"Dream up, dream up, let me fill your cup, with the promise of ..."

Thanks,
Pierre

Well would'ja look at this thread! Ballooned since I've left! Super posts from everyone!

Brad- great run at Heart of Gold and excellent advice from Vanessa
Michele- it's already been said, but what a great post with multitracking. Isn't it fun to do?
Pierre- I remember your first video, and it's been WAY too long since then! I love that song and your version of it.

Did I miss anyone? Need to go back and check.. and listen to everyone's vids again!

Both busking 'Cinnamon Girl', and demo-ing my Taylor GS Mini!! Lovin' this guitar so far. huge sound from such a small body.

Broke a string the 2nd day I got it, so I changed ALL the strings from Elixers to Martins and it really tamed the sound (less bright/tinny). (Thanks to Dennis for the tip)

This isn't the whole song- and there's a flub in it as well. Just wanted to get this up.

Can Taylors and Martins play in the sandbox together??
Guess I'll find out!!
;)

And to answer the inevitable question of WHY I got this (another) guitar? I sold my Fender, as I wasn't playing it much. My Martin stays in the case when I'm not playing it and I like having a guitar out on a stand to play whenever I feel like it.
The GS is also a travel guitar.. and I hope to be doing some traveling with it soon. :)

Thats coming along real nicely Al. I love the sound of that Mini. I've been thinking of piciking one up this summer before I start going on vacations. Just haven't seen one in a store to try out. Back to the song. The only thing I would reccomend is that when playing the verse going from D, Am7, C, Esometihng ( I think those are the chords) accent the first down with a good clear pick of the bass string. Great work overall as your timing was solid and your strumming was really clean. I know you'll be putting up a version of you singing this which I can't wait for. Thanks for sharing.
