Hey everyone,

Looks like I’ve been neglecting the reply duties. Sorry, things have been a bit busy here.

So here we go . . . .

Tony – Thanks for the encouragement. Hope your session with your friends went as well as ours always do. I’d be very interested in seeing a post of you all doing a song or two.

Beaker – This is a very relaxing song to play. Since I was a teenager, I’ve only played this solo. No one else was interested in playing it until my friend (bass player) picked it up. When we did it the first time, it just came alive for me when I heard the bass fill it out. Then he added the harmonica and it was like getting a mind massage. The bass keeps me on track. Forget the metronome, I’ll take the bass any day of the week. The hat? Yes, I’m a hat wearer. Keeps the head warm, the brains in, and focuses one’s attention. Sorry, I've never met BigBear, but, if in Oregon area, I'd be sure to look him up.

Chas - I consider everything else as background to the harmonica. That is the real focal point of the song. And I agree, my friend does a fine job. Marc - Good to hear from you and I appreciate the kind words. Back in December, I bought a set of Hohner harmonicas with the intent of learning how to play along and fill the gap while soloing. After hearing my friend play, I just passed them over to him. They are in much better hands now.

Craig – It’s great therapy. I recommend it to anyone. Thanks!

Willem – Coffee in the morning is another one of life’s early morning pleasures . . . . and swingin, too. Thanks for the support.

Daryl – My friend snuck those backing vocals in there. I never even heard them until I played it back later. I like them, too. The camera is a Canon PowerShot SX10IS set for movie mode. No external mic, just the camera mic (I think it’s only monaural). I was surprised at the quality. After I reviewed this and saw the crappy visual quality, I regrettably got out the manual and figured out that I had the resolution set on the lowest setting. Now it is set to default to the high setting and should make better videos. My bad.

Chris – My part is a lot less complicated in this duet rather than when I play it solo. And this sounds so much better to me. The bass line is very simple, and, if it weren’t for the harmonica parts, I’d fear that my friend would fall asleep while playing it. He is very steady and keeps me from varying. I probably wouldn’t have suggested that we do this tune if it weren’t for the harmonica part, because I feel that it should be fun and interesting for all involved. Keeping things simple and uncluttered takes a different kind of skill and patience.

Al – Thank-you for the kind words. I have the feeling that someday we will share a jam session . . . . . and the lovely H will sing lead vocals.

Pete – Thanks for the encouragement. We did miss a few notes. However, we have used a few simple Jedi tricks so that you wouldn’t notice them. It’s good to know that our training has paid off.

Vanessa (Ness?) – A compliment from you is truly flattering. Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you!

Bob – The intro was fun to write. It was like reliving a very pleasant experience. That’s not at all a bad thing to do. Thanks.

Michele – We are still working on that groove thing. But it shouldn’t be too smooth . . . . one needs to keep an edge on it. Thanks for the support.

Cori – Wow, that’s quite a compliment. Thanks. I’ll be checking out Mojo Magazine soon. Oh, and thanks for setting the record straight on the mistaken identity.

Mark – You know that all of us that share the snowy northern latitudes must hang on to those things that make life interesting and keep us sane during the long winter. At the moment I’m writing this, I am seeing the weather change from rain to sleet to snow all the while it is thundering and lightning like it does during a hot summer storm. Sheez! Good thing I’m not out driving in it!

Buddy – Thanks for the compliments, and the water puns. You don’t know how close to the mark you are on that.

Well, I think that’s everyone. And one final collective thank-you to you all.

Well talk about feeling late to the party BIG TIME. I always am limited on my time on TG and actually just found the busking with TG spot. All of these recordings are great. I will see if I can bring one of my NY tunes up to par with this crowd. It really is amazing how this sites really has a life of its own well well well beyond Neil. Again, and fine fine job by all those who have put up songs.

Mike

Hi G..absolute a big tune from Neil,,its up here as a target lesson,,never nailed it myself,,must try it again..

the hardest transition is on 2.10(on the D) most people are a bit cheating there,,i wish i could do it like you,,well on this moment..

When you put up here a NY song they always comment on the strumming,,there was NY special in his own way and hard to cover(i heard)

Thanks, great it was..

George I agree one of NY better songs around. Well payed, only comment I would make is you need to drone that Drop D more on the Intro and fills and let it ring and then it would be fairly spot on!

Hi George(I hope that's right),

Nice job on a song I really want to get down. I have issues with the D to what I think might be kind of a Bm. Anyway I see you've got a lot of post ed video's up I haven't had time to view. Work cuts into my guitar stuff sometimes

Oh, and welcome If I didn't already welcome you to the best guitar site there is.
