Totally cool, Scott. I'll have Robert Plant screaming "AAAAAaaaaaaaAAAAAA...ah!!!" in my head all night. That sounded really good. Great job on the timing. You've probably mentioned it elsewhere, but can you tell me about your guitar?

Sorry about that LOl! My guitar is a Martin OM-1 and I just got it new about three weeks ago. Still getting used to it and I don't like the strings that are on it. But the guitar itself I like a lot so far. I never played a lot of acoustic in the past but alsways wished I knew more. Learning now - slow process because I never learned how to fingerpick properly (or at all really). That will take some time - working on Blackbird now. And also going through some music theory stuff - never had much of that either. All my playing is pretty much the "school of hard knocks" and "trial by fire".Totally cool, Scott. Ok this is REALLY RAW - full of mistakes, flubs, stops, start-overs, re-dos, mulligans etc. But I am too tired to do it again right now so I guess so buyer beware here.
Bits and pieces of Rain Song. This is based of the live version which is in the key of A (original is in G).

Scott, I'm really quite glad you joined this site. You always put up really cool, and ambitious tunes and end up doing
a darn good job of 'em. I love this song; and this is another one I wish I knew. Looks like there are several places you have to cover quite a bit of fretboard real-estate fairly quickly. Actually, it looks like there is a little of everything in this tune: hammer-ons, pull-offs? (I think) slurs, some bigger stretches, quite a few pinches in there, and a bunch more fun stuff. I really am impressed with you. (I think this one would kick my butt. lol!) Real glad you joined us. I like seeing your name come up because I never know what you are going to do next. great job Scott. You have significant skills, for sure.

Cori - The only way to find out how much it kicks your butt is to try it. Then keep trying it. Rinse and repeat. Thanks for the kind words my friend. And yes I know a little bit of a lot of different things, putting together whole things - that is a different story
Tony - Thanks for viewing.

Hey Scott … lemme guess, in high school you had a spiral bound notebook with the words “Led Zep Rules” emblazed across the cover, oh wait, that was me .. hehe.
Seriously though, really good work with the main riff in the “Immigrant Song”.
Yep, the great timing and very recognizable sound makes it a good candidate for the IRL section.
Geez, without a monitor? You must have heard that a few times to be that accurate with the timing
And despite its raw nature I really like your presentation of “The Rain Song”. I see it’s already in the recommend a lesson section with just 25 votes. Make that 26 … just added mine.
Neil could make a great lesson out of that, but then, Neil could make a lesson out of a recording of whale sounds.
I have to agree with Cori, you’re a real asset to the site. I’m happy you joined and are sharing so much. Keep-em coming!

Thanks Ken. Actually in high school I was not really a huge Zep fan (I knew a lot of em tho). I was more into Floyd, Aerosmith, ZZ-Top, Skynnard, Alman Bros, Eagles, lots of others. Of course I did like a lot of Zep (mostly albums II and IV - hated Physical Graffitti when it came out). But I always liked "guitar" songs like this one (by anyone) and if I heard someone playing songs like ths I usually said "hey show me some of that". Learned a lot of bits and pieces along the way like that.Hey Scott … lemme guess, in high school you had a spiral bound notebook with the words “Led Zep Rules” emblazed across the cover, oh wait, that was me .. hehe.
