Awesome! Or friggin' fantastic as a friend might say. I just loved the whole package. I hope I can play as cooly as that some day. Your singing was very Mick J and super expressive, worthy if being up front, not just as a backing vocal. I loved the whole performance.

I'm glad to have played a little part in inspiring the ending. Your bloopers were hilarious and so famililar. I actually burst out laughing when your dog made an appearance. Thanks for the giggle.

You've made my morning.

That was just so cool!

Please keep them coming.

Michele

I'm not a Stones fan, but that was really excellent. And there's nothing wrong with dumbing down the songs. I do it all the time. I have a habit of going for the simplest arrangement I can. Very very nice.

Hydro, man I'm so glad you posted that! Sounds spiffy in open G. I'm with everybody else; awesome first post!
I think you might have started a trend with those outtakes! Just like at the movies! I needed a good belly-laugh thanks for that! I'm gonna go out on limb here and say you should post more...way more!

Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the positive feedback. Just checked in and didn’t expect so much attention. I’m humbled because I’ve been watching and learning from all of your contributions. Perhaps, some of you think that you are only students and don’t realize that you are teachers, too. I apologize that I don’t have the time to address everyone individually as I would like, because I have to prepare for travel and meetings tomorrow.

I’ll do the best I can . . . here we go:

Daryl, Vanessa, Willem, Mark, Music J, Craig, Mike, Bob, Chas, Dennis, RicksPick, Andy, Cori, Marc, Pierre – glad that you liked it. All of you deserve more than this group thank-you. Always remember that I’m out here in the weeds watching you and stealing your techniques. There’s nowhere you can hide . . . . HA! . . . . . . just kidding. The bloopers/outtakes were inspired by Michele when she tagged one onto the end of one of her videos. Credit where credit is due.

Al – you are too generous. You’re questions . . . . . I’ve been playing off and on (more off than on) since I was a thirteen or fourteenager. Doing the math, that’s about 39 – 40 years ago. My mistake is that I put it away for quite a while. If there is any advice that I can give, it would be don’t do that! Yes, the guitar is a Martin. It’s a sweet little 000-38 (aka M-38). Whenever I put it back in its case, I shake my head and smile at the wonderful noise that comes out of this thing. I don’t deserve it. Of course, I’m in awe of you and Helen, and, if you have time, I’d like to reiterate my request for you to check out Patty Larkin – Just a Few Words. This one was made for you two, especially if you are playing in front of a crowd. Thanks for turning me on to Peter Katz. I bought one of his CDs and he generously singed it for me. He’s talented and a nice person.

Suzi – the pup is a guy. Couldn’t you tell from the manly growl? So, If you’re really from Wisconsin, you’ll understand this . . . . . How about them Packers?

Michele – Thanks for the idea for the ending. The pup has a way of reminding me how much time I waste trying to learn this instrument. Whenever he bugs me like that, I always think that I just let him out 5 minutes ago, and then I look at the clock, and realize that three or four hours has actually passed, and understand that he really DOES have to go out. How does THAT happen?

Chris – I’m going to keep you in mind if I ever get good enough to need an agent!

A few more words about this song. I had no interest in playing it until I heard the acoustic version. Open G lends itself nicely to some very interesting slides and voicings. Now I have one guitar essentially dedicated to this one song . . . . . . . although now Honky Tonk Women is looking attractive, too. Better quit right there before this all goes strange.

Thanks everyone!

Hydroman- firstly I've always planned on doing a bloopers.. I feel your pain...that was just hilarious, especially ya dog

Secondly - you already sing and play well, I think you underestimate your ability by a long way, that sounded as good as a lot of things i've heard on the radio B) man dillian has been getting away with doing what he does for decades and you sound heaps better than that.

Great job and please post more.

but i think you failed as Neil said he would like people to post more vids in the student review so you will have to repost over there :P It would be interesting to see how Neil reviews it :)

thanks

Brad, Thanks for the encouragement. I had thought about posting it in the student upload, but I'm changing the song so fast that if Neil would comment on it, all of it would be a bit irrelevant. Besides, my playing is for fun, and I'm getting to be an old horse with habits that are tough to change. Best for Neil to spend his valuable time on others. Actually, I see that dtaylor submitted the same song about the same time that this one was uploaded and Neil has already reviewed his submission, so, that is good.
