Kevin, like others have said....Your voice is just GREAT! :) :) :) :) I'm serious as can be, I absolutely love it when you do this down home stuff! I love Hank Senior and you more or less taught me how to play this song. (with some pizazz, too.) I love the rocking C-G base note thing and just all the little extras you added to this. If I didn't think you were such great guy I would be real jealous of your voice! :( :) Really, really great!

I'll tell ya what too...if I was gonna play "hypothetical" record producer and I was gonna make a stone cold country album. I would get you and Tammy(wammer) to sing a duet album. Forget George & Tammy(Wynnette)...who needs 'em? I would rather hear our Kevin & Tammy! Seriously, your voice together on "Jackson"...man that would be killer!

Great Job Kevin & Thanks!!! :) :) :)

I was away for a little while and there are many postings again.

Willem, really like that song . I did not know it but it sounds really fun, your singing is excellent

Darryl, very nice production, I got to start adding the bass like you do, it adds a lot to the song. You also have a great voice. Your knowledge of music and rhythm makes it that it sounds like the original.

Dennis: all your posts are inspirationnal. Because you can sing with passion, you are a motivation for me to try to come out outside of the comfort zone . That riff could also sound like something CCR (Suzi Q) would have done.

Kevin: always liked that song, and your voice and rhythm is up to par. Very nice playing.

You Aint Goin Nowhere - Bob Dylan
This is one of the first songs I learned and the first one I did a video of 2 years ago. The chords for the verse and chorus are G Am C G and repeat. The value of a simple song like this is I can put my left hand on automatic pilot and work on right hand techniques. I am trying to be lighter on the pick - not there yet.

PLEASE NOTE: If video was recently uploaded it will not work yet. YouTube will need a little more time to get the video ready. Please check back again soon.

The lyrics as published are:
Clouds so swift
Rain won’t lift
Gate won’t close
Railings froze
Get your mind off wintertime
You ain’t goin’ nowhere
Whoo-ee! Ride me high
Tomorrow’s the day
My bride’s gonna come
Oh, oh, are we gonna fly
Down in the easy chair!

I don’t care
How many letters they sent
Morning came and morning went
Pick up your money
And pack up your tent
You ain’t goin’ nowhere

Buy me a flute
And a gun that shoots
Tailgates and substitutes
Strap yourself
To the tree with roots
You ain’t goin’ nowhere

Genghis Khan
He could not keep
All his kings
Supplied with sleep
We’ll climb that hill no matter how steep
When we get up to it

The lyric I sing are as he recorded it:

Clouds so swift, The rains fallin' in,
Gonna see a movie
Called 'Gunga Din'
Pick up your money
Put up your tent in the wind
You ain't a-goin'nowhere.

Ghengis Khan
And his brother Don
Could not keep on keepin' on
We'll climb that bridge
After it's gone
After we're way past it.

Gonna buy me some rings
And a gun that sings
A flute that toots
And a bee that stings
A sky that cries
And a bird that flies
A fish that walks
And a dog that talks!

Another great addition Jim. And you're definitely making progress with your pick. As a way to practice your pick strumming technique see how quietly you can strum and still keep the rhythm going. Go quieter and quieter until you start to miss the strings with your pick....see which direction (up or down) is quieter....experiment.....no need to sing while practicing unless it helps you.....

Jim, great one to put up for sure! :) :) Picking is definitely getting better! I like your your harp playing!! Myabe you could give some lessons. You sounded quite dylan-esque with it. Love to see you posting and making these nice contributions to the thread.

Keep 'em coming!

Hi people, I hope I won't forget anybody here, been some days already and lotsa goodies on this thread:

Buddy, you must have learned a lot from that recording experiment there, with chorus and all ... my favorite special effect was the low tech one: the hat!

Marc, I would rather not meet a moose in mating season looking at me the way you look at the camera at a certain moment of this video !
Great idea ! Ha !

Cori and Krista, thanks for sharing a let it all hang out moment, I should get more into that band I don't know much about, you got me interested :)

Daryl, you did agree with my diagnosis of a Freudian slip that I detected in your last video.
With this new post, I wonder if I might suppose a Messianic Complex ? (Oh, nicely done !)

Dennis, nice and grungy performance, love that messy, dirty distorted sound. OK, so much for your singing, now, about your guitar playing ...
JUST JOKING !!! Your voice is wonderful here !! I remember from a while back that you related that your vocal chords had lost a lot of range
and that it was not getting any better. Maybe (I hope !) you are discovering that you had underestimated how much your vocal cords could recover.
This is a real fun video in every way, but I'm so impressed that you are in such fine singing form :)

Willem, that's a good song to sing every now and then, good attitude, and you are spreading the message here, fine job.

Kevin, you have a brand of inspiration that is catching. It's obvious you're having a swell time playing, and it's a hoot to watch you at it.

Jim, you are gradually raising the bar for yourself, good show. And congratulations on not posting right after Vanessa again !

Pierre
