Great contributions, ideas and a good vibe in this thread. I'd just ask all those who have expressed enthusiasm for the project to give a clear indication of their song preference. If not one that has already been mentioned then any other, but hard to get the majority view unless you state your preference.

Cheers and thanks.

Tony - I'm good with whatever you guys decide to play. The two Neil songs are both beautiful. I'm likely to be more of an observer anyway. So no preference here.

My thoughts...for what they're worth

Heart of Gold - easy song to play rhythm for. We(you)should be able to cope with 2 rhythm parts (one capoed as Suzi suggested). Nice harmonica intro, not too difficult to sing (for a singer)

Harvest Moon - a better song, but - more difficult to play in a different position, harder to sing, also has a harmonica part if required.

On balance, I think that Heart of Gold would make a better choice for a first attempt.

Heart of Gold.

Let's just try it and if it works we can do another song right away.

I think as many have said that the first one is going to be a steep learning curve so we probably want to keep it rather simple and then if it all comes together we can raise the bar. I'll leave it open to comment or suggestions for a bit longer before we lock in the song.

It sounds like Heart of Gold is felt to be the easier song for our first attempt by a significant majority, of course I'll have to be the odd one out, Heart of Gold is fine, but I think, other than a few changes on the guitar it is harder, more harmonica, more of a Neil Young vocal sound "I wanta live - I wanta give - I've been a miner for a heart of gold- it's these expressions I never give - that keeps me searching for a heart of gold, and I'm gettin old". Harmonica, 3 major segments Once we have the basic guitar chords laid down, I'm not sure what is harder about Harvest Moon. Compare below. I'm good with either. Merry XMas. Gary

Hi Tony

Great idea. I dont know either tune, so either is fine by me.
I know that tech has been talked about, but is everyone using the same programme to record with, and has it been decided whether the first try-out is to be an audio collaboration or a video one.

From personal experience I know that audio collaboration using Audacity is certainly possible. A few years ago I collaborated with 2 friends in London- which is 300+ miles away from me. The song consisted of 2 guitar parts and 1 singer. The song we played was wild horses by the rolling stones.

If you do decide to use audacity, and you need any assistance, please let me know and I'll gladly help.

Thanks

Joe
