Hi Marc,

Thanks. Glad you liked it.

The H4n has a setting to mix the images automagically. But you can also simply record the two mics on separate tracks, then copy the mid and side mics into left and right channels (for a total of four tracks) and invert the phase of one of the two side channels. This would give a bit more flexibility in varying the direct and ambient levels than does just letting the H4n do the work.

My second post, working on tone etc from advice from Daryl et al.

Fun song to play when you remember that it's an AM7 not FMa7 for the second chord of the chorus, woops!!!

I am clapping at the begging to line up my audio and video, or maybe I am telling my audience what they are supposed to do when I am done, ha ha.

All feedback welcome of course, I can take it. I know I didn't play all the measures in the right order, I was concentrating on AV etc.

Stuart,

Fabulous job on Powderfinger!!! I really like what you did on the D chord embellishment that he does on the electric version. It sounded great in your performance. Well done!!!

Matt,

Nice job. Old Man is coming along well. NY has a pretty unique style to his playing that takes some getting used to. You have all the chords down. Now its just about some fine tuning. You may want to work on palm muting a bit to get more of the feel of this song. Keep the posts coming. I'd like to see now you progress on this song. So where in MA are you? I'm up in NH.

HI Matt,

Nice job on 'Old Man'. Sounded much more balanced than your other upload. I know you were looking for AV/technical advice, so I noticed you lost one of the channels-- I only hear it on the left side. Any reason?

Hi Matt,

The sound on this one is much improved over the previous (Indigo Girls) post. I don't know this song well enough to catch the liberties you say you took on the structure, but I did think you did a great job of capturing the Neil Young feel. Mark suggested you might want to add some palm muting, which I also think would be nice.

What microphone are you using? It looks like a small diaphragm condensor mic. How are you interfacing it to your computer? As Al pointed out, you seem to have lost the right channel. But the tone is good.
