Bob, great idea to stage a comeback, it's been overdue :) Good choice of song, you set up a real campfire atmosphere ... good times !

And I'll admit that Pearl Jam came to me only as an afterthought ... I associate this song with the original artist, and you know what that means :S

Pete - Thanks for watching and your good comments. Yeah, I didn't realize Pearl Jam did it either until my son-in-law told me.

Cori - I am really glad you enjoyed it. This is a cool thread. Now I just need to add more :)

Ness - I am so glad you enjoyed it, that means a lot to me. I'll try to keep it alive, the thread that is

Kev - Yeah, a great old tune. I didn't know Pearl Jam covered this until my son-in-law told me. I do remember the 45 but I couldn't tell you the flip side though.

Hey TG-friends!

Well it’s been quite a while since I uploaded anything. I had been kinda sick for a month, not being able to sing, then a funeral and then I was tired… :(

And then I just couldn’t get myself to recording ánything….and the longer you wait, the harder it gets…eventually I thought I had lost the nerves, or at least the drive and didn’t think I’d get it back..... :(

Well, I had a sudden ‘moment’ today (and a little encouragement from a few friends! You know who you are! ;) ) and well I obviously tried. It’s a song that I meant to upload specifically for this thread, but as pointed out, just didn’t get to it until now. Well the thread itself could use some new input I guess!;)

As you can/will hear, it’s in dutch (sorry :P !), originally performed by Acda & de Munnik, my favorite dutch duo. They are extremely talented, write fantastic songs, great lyrics, and usually accompany themselves by piano and guitar along with lots of harmonies together. This one coincedently doesn’t have harmonies, and it’s four chords, so off I went! Funny enough this was a cover done by them from the Counting Crows’ ‘Goodnight Elisabeth’ (they don’t do covers often, since they’re songwriters themselves.)

Anyway, it’s really a very sad song….whenever I sing it, it gives me goosebumps…..it’s intense..

The translation ain’t really mine, but don’t think I could do better, it’s hard translating I have to say, it just doesn’t cut it… :S

Oh well….I still hope you’ll enjoy! :)

Ness

Translation:

‘Goodnight Elisabeth’

Woke up late in the afternoon and Elisabeth wasn’t there.
Went through the house with my eyes closed 'cause i really don't want to see it.
I’d so want you to be here, but wherever you are now,
I hope one day i can go there too and that you will still know me.

Sleep well, Elisabeth…..Sleep well, Elisabeth, sleep well…

We can’t all be heros, people have to be saved too.
The trick is to dance on the golden midway and i can barely make it there.
There is no one who can tell me, why? And why you?
And I, because i'm still here, I drag myself to the front door
and then I check if the midway is free already.

And I say, sleep well, Elisabeth sleep well, Elisabeth sleep well…

Sometimes I see you in the dressing room right before the first song.
Sometimes I suddenly see you in the audience, but when I leave her later it wasn’t you.
I know you'll never come back again, but I hold on to what we had.
Tonight I dream of us again, as queen and king of our second-hand mattress.

And I say, sleep well, Elisabeth sleep well, Elisabeth, sleep well…

Woke up late in the afternoon... and Elisabeth wasn’t there......
