Hey Shel, that's a very nice job all round... really well performed, you handled the lyrics really well seeing as there's so many words to remember. You're getting really good at knocking out these songs!

And thanks to Daryl fro indexing the songs... had a look through...53 already...wow!

Hi Michele, I soooo thoroughly enjoyed that. Over the last year, there's been an important leap forward in how comfortable you seem to be while on camera.
As for performance, you've been on a roll for a while, it's always been a pleasure to see you evolve. I know there's a lot of work behind that.

It just occurred to me that having chosen the name "Delilah" for this song may possibly have been a way of adding a little bit of mystery to what could be viewed as only a simple love song.

That is, by adding a subconscious reference to the story of Samson and Delilah, which, as we all know, turned sour because of one single "Bad Hair Day".

So if there's an underlying message in this song, it's to avoid underestimating the importance of bad hair days.

We might also imagine Samson being in the throes of romantic infatuation and singing something similar to this when he wasn't too busy with the Philistines.

I love wordy songs too. Somewhat wordy posts too. Ho Ho !

Thanks !
Pierre

Daryl, very nice initiative ! Maintaining an index in the first post makes good sense.

Hi Michele, really enjoyable. Your playing was excellent again. I just like the way you are having fun. You have gain enough confidence that if something odd happens, it does not stop you. I noticed in the middle that the words did not came out the way you wanted, you smiled and just continue. The same with the ho-hos when you realized they were coming out probably different than you expected, or the image of Santa crossed your mind. The point is that you have become very good. There was this discussion about guitar player and guitarist or the like. I think you are above that now , you are becoming an entertainer (musical that is).

You also started the face thing a few years ago. I guess there will discussion about smiling now. ... Constant pressure ... :)

For those who care or are interested I created an "index of songs" in the initial post of this thread as this thread is now 40 pages long and no one is going to wade though all 40 pages to look for a particular song....and besides I had some spare time this morning and I felt like going through all the videos again.

FYI as of Michele's "Hey There Delilah" post there has been 53 songs performed. I hope there will be more coming!

Thank you Daryl, for taking the time of doing that, it is very helpful.

Thanks everyone, this was definitely a fun one to do, which is also why I felt it was a perfect candidate for this busking thread. All of your comments definitely motivate me to post again.

Willem - Yes the breathing in this one is definitely tricky with all those words and the loooooooong phrases. It's a bummer when you have to remember to breathe too. I'm glad it made you smile. Thanks.

Daryl - Thanks! I'm glad you concur with it being suitable for this thread. The bass suggestion is a good one. And way to go with the index - that's awesome. It really will help to make this thread a resource for people who want to learn some straightforward and cool sounding sounds. Great idea! and thanks for putting in all that time. 53! WOW! It's still cooking with gas. Reckon we can make it to 100? I reckon I've got another few in me what about you? :)

Craig - Thanks SO much you got me smiling. You should learn this for sure, you'll love it. I hope you enjoy the play along.

Bob - Thanks it's a great song. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes slowly the camera nerves are easing. I'll beat this thing eventually. :)

Nessa - WOW woman!!! You've blown me away. Your words are like gifts from heaven. I just LOVE it when you LOVE something I've posted. And I LOVE cracking you up and putting a smile of your face in general so that REALLY works for me too. Yep the thumb trick, well once you showed me what was possible the thumb wrap just HAD to be conquered. So.... what's the next impossible thing (which YOU can do) that I need to tackle? ;) Re: timing, picking and definitely the singing - thank you! More relaxed, smiles...well I have a GREAT role model. Thanks for being so supportive. Your response made my day.

Suzi - Thanks sweet woman!! It's a really fun song to play and sing. You'll have it down in a few hours, maybe faster, well pretty quickly regardless. The 'ho, ho' was unintentional, but I just decided to go with it, you know how seeeeerious I can be in my videos so it was a good antidote. And you know how easy it is to crack me up, I've decided to let my silly side come out to play more. Thanks for the singing comment. Slowly slowly... :) :)

Den - Thanks!! That's a great compliment. You're a sweetie. My accent, yes I heard it coming through in a couple of other words too. I considered changing it, but decided to let my Aussie-ness out to play too. :) B) This thread MUST be due for another Den-special-1-take-masterpiece. Thanks for boosting my singing confidence. You've definitely helped me to let my voice out more. Thank you.

Tom - Thanks it was fun to play as you well know. Ta.

Chris - Thanks - I'm glad you like it. Yep a LOT of words. You should see all the recordings where I stuffed them up. B) :) :)

Pierre - I ALWAYS love reading your musings. You may well be right about the underlying meaning in this song. I'll keep it in mind when I'm singing it in future. It's sure to get me grinning early. More comfortable, that's so nice of you to say. Well I'm glad that the terribly-pained guitar faces are becoming fewer in each post. Thanks!

Marc - Performer...WOW! I certainly feel like I've got a long way to go, but it's certainly great to hear that it's starting to come off a little musically. You're a great role model in that respect too. Smiles, well I'm working on it. :) B)

Thanks SO much everyone. These responses really do motivate me to play and post more. They are great confidence builders. You're all so sweet. Thanks.

Michele, Just to make sure there is no misunderstanding, I meant to say that you were smiling a lot now and it might become a reference.

Thanks Marc!

A reference hey? Haha that's nice. Thanks. I think we have a couple of references in Nessa and Suzi And Dennis and others who engage the camera already. They are my yardsticks.

Gee I remember the headless videos of TG when I first got here. Scary stuff. Halloween everyday. :), except for Chris who was showing his handsome face... And perhaps others.

Well I'm glad we're seeing faces now, smiling or not. Even some phantoms are taking off their masks occasionally, which always make me happy to see.

By the way Marc, You always make me smile with your performances; musicianship, singing, presence, expressions. It's all good.

Thanks.

Shel

Hey Daryl,

Here’s a thought to expand on your index idea. You could actually copy and paste links that point directly to the corresponding video in your index, then a person could jump directly to a song. When I click on the links, a new TAB is opened in my browser, so your index remains open. Works slick for me.

To get the video links to copy, just go to the posting in this thread and click on the number in the upper right hand corner of the posting, then highlight the link in your browser’s address bar, then use the copy function to copy to the clipboard, then paste it into your first post where appropriate.

Here is an example (I believe it took me less than a minute to compile this example in my word processor):
