I don't know the song, Daryl, but I really enjoyed that. I always study your playing carefully, and there's usually something to learn in what you do. Very fine job.

Daryl:

I had never heard that song before, or even the artist.... There is just too much good music to hear in a lifetime...lol

I also believe that your uploads are always a treat, with learning points. Perhaps I will sing someday, just to make you feel better about your voice.... :woohoo: :silly: :woohoo: :silly:

I love the DAW stuff, but get overwhelmed by them a bit. Need more time to explore and experiment.

Thanks for sharing another great song and your talent with all of us here.

Rock on Daryl!! :) :)

I like this tune and I think I pretty much like P. Thorn. ( what I have heard thus far anyway...I see the appeal too; he writes quality songs and has a great voice!) :)
In all sincerity, I like your guitar playing better than his DEFINATELY. Your chording sounds: snappier, way richer, has more pop and way FULLER. :)
Paul almost sounds like if he hits a high treble string it is an accident. Plenty o' bass strings/ mid-range but hardly any treble. You know it's one of those strummy kinda songs so it makes you wonder why he wouldnt want a little fuller mix of dynamics in his chordal wash. I dunno...I really like what you did with it. And enjoy hearing your voice. Sounded pretty good to me!!

Way to keep the thread goin, Ace!

Daryl,
Your usual great post! Your playing is always so solid. I also really like that you put the lyrics with the chords on your uploads, sometimes I like to play along with you! ... You must have a HUGE house to have enough room for all of the members in your band!!! :)

Gosh Daryl you sure know how to fill out a "simple" four chord song. You've got heaps going on here and I think you've captured the feeling in Paul's song nicely, especially with your singing, which has got the right amount of emotion and grittiness.

I really like:
- the simple but really effective bass line that supports the whole thing really well
- your singing and it's gutsiness,
- your percussive strumming which adds and extra snare feel, and
- I especially like the little solo and melodic runs and fills - they're really nice and my favourite sections.

Very cool project. You're damn good at putting these multi tracks together. I know how much work is in this. Amazing. very cool upload.

Shel

Chris - Thank you, but I will always hide.

Dennis - Thank you, but don't study too hard unless you want to pick up some bad habits!

Jason - So much music, so little time. Thank you for the "treat". Be careful with those "learning points". What DAW do you use?

Cori - Paul's melodies are very catchy and his chord progression are typically quite simple. Thank you for all the kind words.

Craig - Thank you. Glad you play along sometimes! My house isn't huge, and sometimes all the "band members" get in the way - but we make do. ;)

Shel - I hope it wasn't too much. I was just trying to hide again. Thank you for the critique and all the super kind words. I agree, the bass always adds to a song, and the effect on my vocals really helped too. I hope we see a new upload from you soon.

Definitely NOT too much Daryl. My point was that it's amazing how you can take a simple four chord song and turn it into a full complex sounding song with the help of all of your friends. :)

Daryl:

I don't so much use a DAW, as much as own one....

I opted for Studio One about a year or two ago. My local store was offering Saturday morning classes for various stages of recording. They used Studio One and I liked the looks of it and the platform seemed fairly user-friendly. I was mostly looking for something that I could capture the guitar with and not have to rely on the microphone on my camera. My home is very small, and with two kids, a wife and a dog, it gets rather noisy at times. Whenever I would try to record something, it would just be drowned out by an argument over Legos or lightsabers.... ;) I like the program enough, but just don't ever seem to find the time to dig into it and really experiment with it. It is put out by Presonus, which has a decent reputation in the industry and they do offer fairly good support for dumb guy questions such as the kind I ask. I feel that I am fairly computer savvy, and do a broad range of technical things with the computer, but that is one area I have not quite figured out yet. It is one that you really need to dive in to and explore a bit.

I love the work you do with your music, and find myself motivated by it. However, this topic is another in the long list of "wandering aimlessly" items I seem to have these days.... :P
