I have been doing the G using 1st, 2nd and 3rd fingering for going on 25 years (on and off) and never once have I learned a song that needed the first finger for anything with it! Of course I wasn't learning finger-picking songs, acoustic songs, open-chord songs or anything else that needed it anyway LOL. It will be not only hard, but next ot impossible to relarn without occasionally doing it the way I do now (automatic response). That isn't to say I won't try because I will (am) but I think all the old songbooks from years ago always taught it using fingers 1-3 - no wonder so many of us do it that way.Jay- aahh yes the G, it is time, it is not that I don't try but you see the results. While learning I am the Walrus I did change the A to Neils way, and it seemed to happen naturally, hopefully the G will happen too!
