Not so fast, Al :) There's hope for a young'un like you at 2min16 sec mark in the following video of a Q-and-A session
with high school students (xcuz the commercial at start). At about 4min30sec, Chris Hadfield mentions his age: 53 !
You might also find the guitar care info (given at the start of the video) to be useful when the time comes.
