That car must be full of stories (pretty blue), lots more than a hundred words, could you just give us a few words on 3 chords ?

Of course, that means I gotta think up something, too :)

Oh Man I must think hard,,(well the first line could be ''we were so blue''..)I know it drove me to my girl too who lived then on the otherside from were I lived,,,later on I bought me this and Easy rider was the first movie I (we) saw..

Maybe memory comes back,,
Willem, You've almost written a whole song here:

We were so blue
It drove me to my girl too
She lived on the other side
From where I lived

We were so blue
Easy Rider was the first movie
I took her to
But she lived on the other side
From where I lived

So how does your story end?
WOW Daryl,,thank you,,well her family home was at the same town but she was the whole week(s) on the other side for study and work so I drove many weekends to the otherside almost on the beach were you could find us too,,,,well if it must have a end there is'nt I guess,,wel still are together and we don't have a car at the moment,,,A few days back I dreamed about an Opel..Opel Adam,,a little nice car and new in the Opel line,,,but we plan also to move from our flatappartment to a house on the ground with a little garden....soooooooooooo

You might think that my story ends now,
but in fact we are in a new chapter.
That car is gone, but my baby's still here,
our happy life will be ever after.

As the pages of our life unfold,
like a story book that never ends.
From beaches, to flats, soon to a house with a garden,
Together, our time we will spend.

Cars have a way of bringing back sweet memories,
But sometimes we dream of things to come.
Sweet "Opel" is the vison I see now,
While I dream of future cruising in the sun.

I can almost hear this song making the charts already Willem!!!

Willem, Daryl, Bart ...

Nice vibe to this so far, I sure hope something comes of it.

You may have heard of the "Dead Poets Society" ?

Welcome to the "Living Poets Society" !

Let's enjoy this while we can !

But what if I did'nt had the car?
well I can't answer and I won't
this story ends only when we die
just has the car on the junkyard..

It's interesting seeing how these lyrics are coming together. Now you just need some tones, a little rhythm, a dash of feeling and some attitude.

Pierre - I think my girlie genes are winning out on this one. I've got nothin' ... Well not enough for a song anyway. :)

Will you be putting something up?

Michele, I think this challenge is a way of cornering myself into doing it ...

It would be a joy to crack the "secret" that would make writing songs seem easier.

Having a subject is a good start, then finding a story in it, messing around using existing tunes,
and hopefully stumbling into something more personal.

I only started thinking about this a day ago, and at the moment it's like I'm a computer crunching data a bit aimlessly.

... Interesting process, though. A challenging challenge.

Hey Willem,

I hope you don't mind that I arranged your description / explanation into a few verses of song? Just adding onto what Daryl had done to help you write your blue car song :)

Hope you can find a melody that fits the flow of the song as you hear it in your head...

A song?? a picture tells more than hundred words..At that time I was very pleased with it,,it brought me always home!!

Hey Willem,

I was listening to a version of Greg Brown's tune Blue Car (that I had never heard before) and it made me remember seeing this thread and the pic of your beloved car...

So here ya go... a few versions of what outta be a perfect tune for your memory... lol :)
One of 'em is the Jeff Bridges (aka the Dude Lebowski's version) A BIG GREG BROWN FAN
Anyways enough rambles...

*Oh, I almost Forgot here's what my first car (also a shade of blue) looked like...(but it wasn't a Boom-boom like the one depicted here)
I acquired it from my cousin, and it had already been stolen twice in Chicago...so an interesting history before I ever got my hands on it... Lol

Some friends used to joke in college that it was good enough to get you from point A to B and Half-way back...looking back on it I'm not sure why my country butt hauled those public-transport city slickers around if all they were gonna do is poke fun at the old girl lol
