I'll throw out a challenge.....I was so inspired by MarkM's beautiful open G noodle that I thought I'd attempt to add a melody of sorts to it. And I thought, others could either: (1) play along with Mark's video (creating their own melody), (2) sing along with Mark's video (which would require writing some lyrics and a melody), or (3) create their own OpenG noodle.
Here's my attempt:

Daryl,
Pretty cool stuff there. My brain works with the chord progressions and rythm but I'm lacking on the creative ability for lead work. What you did in such a short amount of time is really nice. I'm curious if what others come up with as well.

Mark, Start with a single note that works and try different patterns with that note. For example, an 1/8 note followed by a half note, or a triplet followed by 2 quarters, etc.. Then find 3 or 4 notes on the neck that don't clash. Certainly, the G B and D notes will work, and try different patters using those notes. Eventually, something will sound good to your ears. And then find another "phrase" and combine the 2 phrases......go for it!

Daryl,
I like what you're doing here. It's a nice way to build on Mark's beautiful foundation.
This is a cool idea for a challenge too, especially as Mark's piece gets the brain rolling on possibilities and then you demonstrate how effect a few notes can be. I'll be watching with interest and ... Well you never know, I might just play too. We'll see.
Very nice.

Daryl,
You've got a real good ear for these notes. Together it sounded really nice.
Way to go.

Thanks all. I hope someone else will step up to my challenge.
Here's a new addition to my attempt. Using REAPER I can make my guitar a MIDI input device, so I've added a backing cello to my melody. I was just doodling around so I really don't have anything worked out yet (as to how to properly enhance the melody with a string section) but you'll get the idea......
