Here’s another simple Paul Thorn song with just five 1st position chords: G Am C D Em (I ii IV V vi).
Two separate guitar tracks (left & right), one bass, 2 lead guitar tracks, 1 vocal recording duped into 3 tracks loaded with effects. It was a lot of fun to work on this one but with such a simple bass line and lead lick I didn't see a need to do the PIPs for them. And as far as video recording my vocals.....forget about it.

Here's the one I posted in the 3- or 4-chord song thread.....

Here’s a really simple 4 chord song (D G A and Bm). Paul Thorn plays it in drop-D tuning. I did it in both standard tuning and dropped-D. I know some of you don’t like all the bells and whistles a DAW provides and would rather see a pure/live video performance, but for me I like to try and hide my flawed playing and singing (especially the singing). So in this song I’ve got 3 acoustic guitars, 1 bass guitar, 2 lead guitars, and 2 vocals (expanded to 4 by way of effects). But I just couldn’t bring myself to do all the PIP work for such a simple 4 chord song…..

It’s always fun to collaborate with you. After Michele did “All My Loving” with me I wanted to do another song with her. She kindly said “yes”. So I went searching for a new YouTube friend. And I found this great song by my new friend Paul Thorn that I just loved and thought we could do something with it. So I asked Michele to come up with a bass track and I’d do my usual rhythm hacking and attempt a small solo to fill in the interlude. What we ended up with is beyond my wildest dreams. I love everything you're doing in this. It may be a simple five chord song primarily, but all the parts fit so well together that it's a classic case of the song being greater than the sum of its parts.

The bass is very cool. I like the sound you're getting there.
The guitars sound great, rock solid and I really like the little frills you've got in the middle lead section.
Your vocals have a great quality to them that's different from Paul, but adds a nice emotional edge to the song. The chorus is great too.

You've pulled together another professional piece. I truly would have believed that this was a new band. I don't see any of your other buddies in the video, they must have been recording in the wardrobe.

Just a quick shout out this morning letting you know that I really enjoyed this video and all of your differant parts together. It might be a simple song to play but it takes skill and musical ability to make it right.

I believe this is the song that was posted a few months ago of Paul Thorn, that was the first time I had heard of him. I've heard a lot more of him now and am liking his style of songs. More real life stuff that makes you feel like he is telling a real life story with his songs...
