Hi everyone,

We're back on the job after the giggle-fest demo last week. I think we're calling this one number seven. Arrhhh... Getting confused. :) I guess it doesn't matter. This one was inspired by the drum track and some word play, which became a chorus. The rest basically got bounced around until we had what your see and hear here.

We hope you like it.

Perception

Reflection, deception
It's all about perception
Reflection, deception
It's all about perception
Can't believe what I see
Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

When I met you I thought you were good
Did you fool me, have I misunderstood
You said you’d never leave
But I knew that you would

Your engine’s running, your case is in the hall
I’m in the kitchen, my face to the wall
Sometimes i think
I never knew you at all

Solo

I had a dream and, i thought it was true
A life, for me and for you
I woke up you were gone
You'd already shot through

You were trouble right from the start
There signs were there, anybody could chart
I guess I knew
But, I listened to my heart

Reflection, deception
It's all about perception
Reflection, deception
It's all about perception
Can't believe what I see
Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

I now look at things in a different way
Sure i’ll listen to what you got to say
You won't fool me no more
Maybe then, but not today

I’m standing tall, and I’m standing free
I feel a power in the highest degree
I’m in control,
Nobody hurts me

Solo

There’s always a reason. There’s always a cause
We all got to live by the natural laws
I've got my life
Now you can keep yours

Reflection, deception
It's all about perception
Reflection, deception
It's all about perception
Can't believe what you see?
You can't play your tricks on me?

Wow Shel and David. That was awesome. That might be my favorite one yet. I'll be first in line to buy your album. :)

Well I am impressed again.....you guys sure keep the variety of songs going! :cheer:

I think the main feel of the song is 'Cool'! B) All the instrument parts, but also the vocals add to that feel.

I very much like the lyrics I have to say. And Dermot, I actually thought Shel was looking quite cheery when singing! No need to cheer her up, she's already having loads of fun working on the TZZ's debut album! :P ;)

Very well done you two, it's amazing how you keep coming up with all kinds of songs, very very cool!

David and Michele, Damn you guys are clever! Good job all around (again). Now it's time to start working on some vocal harmonies.

Sandy, Dermot, Ness, Willem, Daryl and Chris,

Thanks for your fabulous responses yeh we are enjoying ourselves. I couldn't help smiling in this one even though it's not a 'happy song'. I guess I'm just continuing to have fun.

Sandy - "favorite one yet" - woo hoo! That's great to hear. Thanks!

Dermot - it's funny you mention Leoard Cohen, I thought David sounded even cooler on a sketch he sent me of the verses; it reminded me of Leonard. :) thanks for the banana. I LOVE bananas. ;)

Ness - you know just what to say to make us feel good; well I'm presuming I know what David's reaction was to your comment. But "impressed" and "cool" absolutely do it for me. :) you should have heard David's singing on a previous take (different lyrics). It was WAY cool. Unfortunately he had a cold and was feeling rather crappy. We often find that there is a quality in an early take that's hard to capture later. :)

Willem - ooooh, ooh, ooh; we love singing oohs too; I thought I'd give you a few more to tide you over until we release the next song. :D thanks!

Daryl - Really nice to hear all that; harmonies, I hear you. They're on the list. :) thanks!

Chris - thanks! "on fire" is good to hear too. :)

So I'm making a request list; happy song, harmonies. We'll see what we can do. Can we rise to the challenge of writing a happy song. These and other very important questions ... Stay tuned. :)

Thanks again everyone.

Shel
