Two separate guitar tracks (left & right), one bass, 2 lead guitar tracks, 1 vocal recording duped into 3 tracks loaded with effects. It was a lot of fun to work on this one but with such a simple bass line and lead lick I didn't see a need to do the PIPs for them. And as far as video recording my vocals.....forget about it.
Craig I hope you will play along with me.

Perhaps I'll add my other Paul Thorn songs to this thread ("That's Life" (with Michele), and "I Don't Want To Know") a little later just to have them in one place.
Where Was I - Paul Thorn
Em C G (twice)
On a (Em) black and white (C) TV back in (G) grammar school
I was (Em) watching Neal (C) Armstrong walking (G) on the moon
That (C) same day I (D) pretended I was an (Em) astronaut
On the playground (C) monkey bars I flew a(D)bove the stars
(Em) I was in a Dallas (C) disco the night John (G) Lennon died
The (Em) DJ played (C) Imagine and every (G) body cried
I (C) remember a thousand (D) lighters held up (Em) in our hands
All we were (C) saying was let’s give (D) peace a chance
Chorus:
(G) Where was (C) I when you (Am) stopped lovin’ (D) me
(G) When did (C) I become (Am) histor(D)y
There’s (G) not many (C) things that escape my (Am) memor(D)y
Tell me (C) where was (G) I when you (D) stopped loving (G) me
Em C G (twice)
Every (Em) 20,000 (C) years that comet lights (G) up the night
On a (Em) blanket we (C) watched it sail (G) across the sky
A (C) moment like (D) that comes just (Em) once in life
We made love for the (C) first time at eleven (D) thirty-five
But (G) where was (C) I when you (Am) stopped lovin’ (D) me
(G) When did (C) I become (Am) histor(D)y
There’s (G) not many (C) things that escape my (Am) memor(D)y
Tell me (C) where was (G) I when you (D) stopped loving (G) me
I (C) remember when I met you
And the (G) taste of our first kiss
I re (Am) member your (C/B) goodbye
But (C) could you tell me (D) this
(G) Where was (C) I when you (Am) stopped lovin’ (D) me
(G) When did (C) I become (Am) histor(D)y
There’s (G) not many (C) things that escape my (Am) memor(D)y
Tell me (C) where was (G) I when you (D) stopped loving (G) me
(C) Where was (G) I when you (D) stopped loving (G) me
For those who don’t know the song here’s Paul doing it with his band:
Edit 1:
Here's the one I posted in the 3- or 4-chord song thread.....
Here’s a really simple 4 chord song (D G A and Bm). Paul Thorn plays it in drop-D tuning. I did it in both standard tuning and dropped-D. I know some of you don’t like all the bells and whistles a DAW provides and would rather see a pure/live video performance, but for me I like to try and hide my flawed playing and singing (especially the singing). So in this song I’ve got 3 acoustic guitars, 1 bass guitar, 2 lead guitars, and 2 vocals (expanded to 4 by way of effects). But I just couldn’t bring myself to do all the PIP work for such a simple 4 chord song…..
I Don't Want To Know - Paul Thorn
capo on 2nd fret
A (D) long way from home while drinking a beer
A beautiful stranger whispered in my ear
Come up to (G) room 307 and don't tell a (D) soul
I’ve heard (A) forbidden fruit is (G) sweeter but I don't want to (D) know
She (D) asked me to dance she didn't see no harm
But if you dance with the devil she'll turn on her charm
These are some (G) dangerous circumstances I think I should (D) go
I'm tempted (A) wondering what it'd be like to (G) hold her but I don't want to (D) know
I don't want to (G) know what it's like to cross that line
(D) I don't ever want to see my baby cryin
I could (G) keep it a secret it would never show
But (Bm) what would it cost my (A) heart I don't want to (D) know
There's a (D) three room house six hundred miles away
With a fenced in yard where my children can play
And the (G) angel of my dreams god I love her (D) so
What I would (A) lose to abuse her (G) trust I don't want to (D) know
I don't want to (G) know what it's like to live a lie
Even (D) if she couldn't tell by looking in my eyes
I could (G) keep it a secret it would never show
But (Bm) what would it cost my (A) heart I don't want to (D) know
And here’s the original song if you don’t know it:
Edit 2:
Here's the one Michele and I posted in the collaboration area.....
First I have to thank Jim (takhak) for introducing me to Paul Thorn. Thanks Jim! And second, I have to thank Michele for playing with me again. Thanks Michele! It’s always fun to collaborate with you. After Michele did “All My Loving” with me I wanted to do another song with her. She kindly said “yes”. So I went searching for a new YouTube friend. And I found this great song by my new friend Paul Thorn that I just loved and thought we could do something with it. So I asked Michele to come up with a bass track and I’d do my usual rhythm hacking and attempt a small solo to fill in the interlude. What we ended up with is beyond my wildest dreams. Michele is pretty amazing! So here’s our collaboration of Paul Thorn’s “That’s Life”. Hope you like it (and Paul). For best sound use headphones........
And here’s Paul’s original video:

(E) Thank you I'm ok I (A) guess,
I just need a little (E) rest.

I ain't complainin' - that's (E) life.
I've got blueberries in the (A) yard.
I bought a hundred mason (E) jars.
I'm gonna pick them when they're (A) ripe.
Another season - that's (E) life.
[Chorus]
(E) Wipe that (F#m) tear out (G#m) of your (A) eye.
(B/A) Behind the clouds the sun still (B/G#) shines.
You're in my prayers every (F#m) night.
(B7) Enjoy the journey that's (E) life.
[Interlude]
(E) (A) (E)
There's a touch of fall in the (A) wind.
Can't wait till you come back a (E) gain.
You're the brightest star in my (A) sky.
Wish you could stay - that's (E) life.
I know it's time for you to (A) go.
Here's a sandwich for the (E) road.
It's always hard to say good (A) bye.
Ain't that the truth - that's (E) life.
[Chorus]
(E) Wipe that (F#m) tear out (G#m) of your (A) eye.
(B/A) Behind the clouds the sun still (B/G#) shines.
You're in my prayers every (F#m) night.
(B7) Enjoy the journey that's (E) life. (Esus4) (E)

You (D/F#) never had
(Em) But whatever I (A) do (Em) I always end (Am7) up without you (G) girl
Now I'm missing (B7) out on all of your (C) love
