Trouble with palm muting upstrums Brewer & Shipley

Hello all,
I am working on the song People Love Each Other (I legally own this file and is attached below) by Brewer & Shipley one of my favorite groups famous for One Toke Over The Line.
I am having trouble palm muting on the upstrums. Downstrum muting is not an issue. I am sure there are many other songs with this technique.
I can't seem to get the top strings muted as I come back up. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Paulette

Hi Paulette,

I don't know the song but......why do you think there is PALM muting on the upstrokes? Might it be that they are muting the strings with their fretting hand instead (on the upstrokes)? I'm not sure if I've ever seen palm muting on an upstroke. But I'm sure others more knowledgeable than I will chime in to give you a hand.

Thanks for your reply. it sure sounds like it to me, and I thought other songs do it. I could be wrong. Maybe someone can tell me what it is they are doing.
