That was great Lynn. And I really enjoyed hearing you singing it too.

Happy St Patrick's Day to you too.

Hello!

Thanks, everyone, for your responses.
I really just wanted to commemorate St. Patrick's day. I recently re-learned this song, and only in the process did I recall that I had known this song a child. It was fun to look at it again. As a kid I was always confused by the "cockles and mussels" - I sure didn't know what a "cockle" was and why was she selling "muscles"? and why "alive"?
I'm still working on an instrumental arrangement, there's a lot of potential there to do some really pretty embellishment, but I'm not there yet.

Lynn, I thought you did súch a lovely job!

I know you lean more towards non vocals songs, but personally I love to hear you sing. :)

Btw...what in the world is St. Patrick's Day about?

I think that St Patrick somehow drove all the snakes out of Ireland, which would make him one of my personal favorites among Saints. Haha - I'm terrified of snakes.

And thanks for you kind words about my singing - I don't sing often, and it is hard to combine that with fingerpicking, but once in awhile I manage a little something.

As I understand the "snakes" saying, it was a metaphorical reference to the indigenous Pagan belief systems. Mind you, my sources are far from unbiased and I've not done any serious research to vet them.

Well done Lynn that was really beautiful.

The last time I heard that song was probably at school and that wasn't yesterday!

I see you are also wearing the correct colour of outfit for St Patricks' day as well. ;) :)

Thanks for sharing. :)

Cheers,

Tom N.
