Not 100% with this yet, but I'm comfortable enough now to share a play-through. I spent a lot of time practicing it on my six string acoustic and that helped a great deal with cleaner fretting and general sustain but, in the end, I just had to record it electric. Played almost dry on my PRS Zach Myers signature semi hollow, the only effect was a tiny bit of reverb because that's how Frey recorded the version I have. I didn't add anything or alter any part of the recording except for that. I have some backing drum and orchestra tracks I arranged but in the end I decided I just wanted the guitar.

I don't know this song at all but....your playing is quite good and smooth. Now that you have that track down, why don't you add a rhythm guitar track next?

Thanks for the kind words, daryl!

Here's the original version I learned from, it's off their Long Road out of Eden album. Not really sure how a rhythm guitar would fit in, but I'm sure there'd be a way to make it work. :side:

Nicely done.
Great tune, I didn't know that either.

Thanks, guys!

For my next trick I plan to record something with Bart's 12 string Taylor. Been working on it, but had to get this Frey tune out of my head first. :side:

You're right....no rhythm guitar, but how about a quick go at a keyboard synth? It would really compliment your guitar playing.

Sounds like a cool idea! I'll see what I can do over the next few days, work permitting. :side:

I know the song, the whole album, it's great!
" Center of the Universe" very nice as well.

Mark well done, very nice feel to the playing, a bit dreamy, like it a lot.

Very nice post!

Thanks, Corina! I had so much satisfaction learning this tune; beautiful, soul-enriching music is where I want to be, whenever and wherever I can.

I’m putting in an advance notice: one of the tunes I do for IGC 2018 will cry out for your help on vocals, Ness on percussion, and more to come. No idea what, yet, but eins steht fest—so zu sagen. :side:
