Lyrics : Picking and Sliding

Well, I picked and I strummed
Played the whole night long
Well, I picked and I strummed
Played the whole night long
When, I woke up this mornin
Still couldn't play that song

Well my Baby told me,
Put that geetar down
Well my Baby told me,
Put that geetar down
She said this guys on You Tube, and
He’s got it going on

So I checked that Dude out
Neil Hogan is his name
So I checked that Dude out
Neil Hogan is his name
With Sleight of Hand he got me
And I know I won't look back

Well I'm into the Forum
Posting all night long
Well I'm into the Forum
Posting all night long
Mates like Andy, Bear and Chris
We string poor old Matt along

Now I'm picking and sliding
But I can sing that song
Now I'm picking and sliding
But I can sing that song
Now I say to everybody
Come join the TG fun

I thought it was Slim Dusty (I know that will be lost on most of you sorry) but them I realised he wasn't playing country so took a closer look and saw it was Chas. Good luck with this one for the comp mate.

Chas, my mate, this is fantastic, your Dobro sounds really good and you are handling that slide spot on. Nice intro/outro.

This is getting more and more challenging.

Thanks Guys, I almost didn't do this as singing, (if thats what you can call my effort) is way out of where I want to be. I appreciate more now the comments made by some of the other non singers who have done this already. I could actually sing better without the guitar and vice versa play the tune without fault when not singing, so I considered doing two separate tracks. This was take 10 and I got frustrated so just put it up with at least three flubs in it.

Of interest you note I capoed at the 2nd fret in Open G, If anyone can identify the 'new' tuning that could be todays trivia question lol, I know... but do you? The use of the capo was required to fit my voice but in doing so it interfered with the slide on the open frets at the top of the neck , you just can't attack it the same so it was slightly tinny in places.

The intro / outro is pure Robert Johnson, he used this riff in nearly all of his Open G songs either as an intro/outro or as a turnaround between verses. Check out Rory Block, great blues player, she copies RJ's style and also uses this riff on a Martin!!

The main tune as mentioned in the credits is the original Rolling and Tumbling tune by Hambone Willie Newbern (sp) way before Muddy Waters or Claptons version which are more commonly known. Thanks to Wadestar for finding an original recording of it as I knew it existed and discussed this with him in the Blues group and hey presto he found it for me a couple of weeks ago, thanks Wade.

Well Bear if I can do that its just gotta be your turn now.

I'm still not convinced to do another though, let the nerves settle first...
