I have another Dylan song. How about Johnny Winter's Highway 61 Revisited?

Cabro, I love that cover. Johnny Winters is a character indeed.

How about an obscure one? Anyone ever heard The Gourds cover of Snoop's Gin and Juice?

NSFW due to language. (For those of you who won't click this, it's a bluegrass cover of a rap song)

DBabsJr- that's hilarious!!

We've gotta put about $20 bucks in TG's swear-jar after watching it!

I haven't seen the original rap version- but I know I like this better.

I like Manfred Mann's 'Blinded by the Light' better than Bruce Springsteen's..
Al- That's a no-brainer!! ROFL!!
Manfred Mann's cover of Spirits in the Night was also better than Bruce's IMHO.

Now I can't say that either of these are better at all, but the covers were very good and get close to the originals:

The Ataris' cover of Don Henley's Boys of Summer

Sammy Kershaw's cover of Sammy John's Chevy Van.

Again, not better, but very good in it's own right:

Metallica's cover of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page"

I agree that they're not better- but they did do good versions.
Both are timeless tunes. I actually still have a '45 of Sammy's 'Chevy Van'!

Yeah, I have the movie that it came from! I loved that song when it came out, and it has always remained one of my favorites of all time. Just a good song period. I have one of Sammy John's albums, and it is not half bad. No other great ones like Chevy Van, but solid material none the less.
