Cabro, I love that cover. Johnny Winters is a character indeed.

DBabsJr- that's hilarious!!
We've gotta put about $20 bucks in TG's swear-jar after watching it!
I haven't seen the original rap version- but I know I like this better.

Now I can't say that either of these are better at all, but the covers were very good and get close to the originals:
The Ataris' cover of Don Henley's Boys of Summer
Sammy Kershaw's cover of Sammy John's Chevy Van.

Again, not better, but very good in it's own right:
Metallica's cover of Bob Seger's "Turn the Page"

I agree that they're not better- but they did do good versions.
Both are timeless tunes. I actually still have a '45 of Sammy's 'Chevy Van'!

Yeah, I have the movie that it came from! I loved that song when it came out, and it has always remained one of my favorites of all time. Just a good song period. I have one of Sammy John's albums, and it is not half bad. No other great ones like Chevy Van, but solid material none the less.Music Junkie wrote:Now I can't say that either of these are better at all, but the covers were very good and get close to the originals:
