Wow, it is so hard to even start on this topic. There are so many great bands/musicians.

To name a few:
Eagles / Jackson Browne / Tom Petty / Journey / CSN / Neil Young / Rush / Alabama / George Strait / on and on and on.......

Plus, I have really gotten turned on to Prog Rock as of late and have discovered many good groups in that genre as well.

For just good old strumming fun, it is always a hit if you can play some Jimmy Buffet too.

Cheers!

Dinosaur Jr is a great guitar based band. J Mascis just got a signature jazzmaster a couple years back. Probably not something Neil would teach, but they still made/make great music.

Kinda like how Hendrix did better covers than the originals. His use of wah is kind of unnecessary in the leads but I dig it anyway.

Welcome to the Forum, Dale.

I kind of like that clip from Dinosaur Jr. Thanks
for sharing it.

no problem! I might just be sharing semi-obscure clips of bands that will never be featured in TARGET, but I still love anyway.

As far as Dinosaur Jr. goes, they're definitely worth exploring. I love bands like them and Fugazi as well as the classics that Neil puts up.

I've had a number of favorites over the years but very few artists whose entire body of work appealed to me. I'm a big fan of prog rock, particularly early Yes. I was floored by Black Sabbath the first time I ever heard a guitar tuned down a step and a half and was devoted to them for about 3 albums. I still think Volume IV is one of the best albums of the genre. For sheer volume of work and entertainment value though, I'd have to go with Frank Zappa. At least 80 albums, over 3/4 of which were released before his death.

This one is pretty easy:

1. Pink Floyd
2. Jethro Tull
3. C, S, N & Y
4. Moody Blues
5. Renaissance (with Annie Haslam!)

Rest of the top ten: Yes, Led Zep, ELP, the Who, and Blue Oyster Cult :)
