my favorite 70's guitarist is definitely duane allman. the 70's was the best decade of rock in my opinion and there are definitely a lot of good guitarists but i think duane allman is the best.

Duane was good, but I'll have to go with his founding member buddy, Dickey Betts. Makes me want to go play "one Way Out" just thinking about it. lol

Good choice! I'd add Robin Trower, David Gilmour (never wastes a note!), Jimmy and Carlos! I almost forgot Tommy Iommi, Hank Marvin and Mark Knofler!!

Randy Rhodes was a great guitar player, but I gotta add Eric Clapton. I'm surprised he wasn't mentioned here yet.

Surprised I haven't made a post here yet lol, 70's guitarists very difficult, my picks would include Robin Trower, David Gilmour, Eric Clapton Hank Marvin also sounding like rcsnydley's post in fact I should have cut and pasted. JImmy, Carlos Mark Knopfler oh and two less well known Deke Leonard and Micky Jones from the Man band.

My favorite guitarist of the 70s. I don't have one. I have many that I really love the music they did, but it would be an impossible task to choose one of them.

My all-time favorite guitarist? Me.
