Steve Vai is an excellent guitarist to be sure. I have been a fan of his for years. He has a great song called "For the Love of God" that you should check out as well.

Here it is:

Guy is an animal when it comes to his practice regiment as well. He published his practice routine once, and it was very, very intimidating. Course, you practice like that, and you get results.....

Glad you found him. Enjoy.

Hi galsteien

If you're a fan of this type of music, can I also suggest you do a search for Joe Satriani, he was Steve Vai's teacher for a while.

You might want to look for Yngwie Malmsteen and Eddie Van Halen too.

Enjoy

Joe

Look up G3--it's an annual electric/shredding guitar tour organized by Joe Satriani featuring 3 of the world's leading electric guitarists (including Joe, of course). Steve Vai appears often.

Look up G3 (tour) on Wikipedia.

ok Chris

If your looking for a basic education on guitar players, can we all add a few names for you to try out?

For instance, Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Beck, Gilmour, SRV, BB King, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Kossof :P

That should keep you going in a blues/rock vein for a while

Joe
