I found it hard to phrase the original question in order to put over what I was looking for, Reiver. I rephrased it several times before posting. In my comment to tovo I should have said: You've understood the question as I meant it. I wasn't implying that everyone else was off the mark. The answers that came were much broader than my narrow focus and I really appreciate the broader view and understand what was said. I'm very happy to take the answers I get.

@songman: I sat 9 feet away from José Feliciano when he played a concert in a Frankfurt night club in 1982. I was sitting on a bar stool he was in the middle of the dance floor. Just him acoustic, unplugged. Then he plugged in and played electric. Wow! One of the most memorable concerts I had the privilege to attend.
