Generally speaking, I am not a fan of the opera, but I must say that I did enjoy this:

"Last month at the central market in Valencia, Spain, opera singers disguised as shopkeepers were selling produce at the various stalls.

Opera is pretty low on my list as well, but that was a very enjoyable video.

Now that was a really cool event and video. Brilliant idea to bring the singing to the people, where it belongs. Now I don't really like opera much but I reacted the same way as the people in the video, big smile all over my face and at the end, just like the lady in the video, there's tears in my eyes. Music really gets in side us and brings joy to life..... now that's what I'm talking about!

Thanks for posing Jay. It also reminds me of waking up in the dead of night as a teenager because my little sister was singing in a full blast opera voice in the room next door..... in her sleep!!

I think this is just a great video and a stunningly brilliant idea some public relations guy or gal had. Talk about bringing the power of opera to the masses!

Great post Jay. As the saying goes, 'there are only two kinds of music - good music and bad music'. That was good music. The smiles on the peoples faces says it all.

Terrific post, I really enjoyed it. Once upon a time I thought I didn't like opera all that much; then I went to the Met. And back again and again. It's nothing less than astonishing.

What a great idea, bring "La Traviata" to the masses. Most people that say they 'hate opera' have never attended even one performance. Great display of living art.

The local Supermarkets here in New Zealand could learn a thing or two from this.

Bravo, encore! encore!
