Lots to choose from...... B)
I am also a big fan of both the movie and soundtrack from "The Big Chill" that Dennis mentioned earlier. Both were awesome. One of my favorites is The soundtrack to "Into the Wild". I thought Eddie nailed that album.

Favorite movie soundtrack
Interesting thread Jimcjimc because I always enjoy movies more that have an artfully incorporated sound track. I heartily agree with those that cited 'Apocalypse Now,' 'McCabe & Mrs. Miller,' 'The Graduate' and particularly 'Pulp Fiction.' Here's a couple of others to consider that I thought also had great soundtracks: 'Grosse Point Blank' and 'Watchmen.' The movies themselves are pretty entertaining too!

Many of the Star Trek movies and of course Star Wars. I love the full amazing sound of an orchestra pounding out a strong melody.
Forest Gump of course, how can I not mention that one.
Top Gun, one of my all time favorite movies, just because of Danger Zone.
Jesus Christ Superstar. Yvonne's rendition of "I don't know how to love him" was simply heart wrenching. And I must've sang 'What's the Buzz" at least 5000 or 6000 times.
The Goodbye Girl, mostly because of David Gates.
The Jungle Book (Original animated) I literally wore out the record playing it.
Help. 'nuff said on that one.

....oh yeah Stuart! Everybody's Talkin' at Me really made Midnight Cowboy for me.Any movie that Harry Nilsson contributed to
And I do have to mention Forest Gump too and 45 years back... A Hard Day's Night and Help!
Here are my favorites because they literally made the movie or were so notable that I still remember the impact of the music. I omitted songs that were already hits before they were used in the movie.
1. Theme to 2001: A Space Odyssey (Also sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss) they built the whole movie around this song.
2. Theme to The Exorcist (Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield) built a great mood
3. Theme to Donnie Darko ( Mad World By Tears for Fears as covered by Gary Jules)
4. Theme to The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (music by Ennio Morricone)
5. Theme to Star Wars (by John Williams)
6. Theme from Exodus (by Ernest Gold)
Honorable mention:
- Rocky's Theme by Bill Conti
- Theme to the Wizard of Oz (Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen)
- Top Gun (Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins)
- :cheer:

These would all be in my list, don't necessarily remember the movie but certainly do the music.
