So sorry to hear this news. John's vinyl albums - The Black Balloon , and The Hermit,- were part of my introduction to fingerpicking guitar.

Very sad news. One of the greatest guitarists in history. Neil knew him well and has some great stories about playing and teaching with him. Maybe he will share them with us as a tribute to a great musician?

The music world is much poorer tonight. RIP John and thanks for the great songs!

Hello all,

I don't know where to start with this but stunned is about all I feel right now. I have to be on the road today so no Weekly Update as I'd like to gather my thoughts and put together some memories for everybody next week.

I never heard of John Renbourn before joining TG and hearing about him from Neil. Will look forward to Neils comments and tribute.

I am very sad to hear this. John Renbourn was one of my favorite guitarists. I have listened to him since the early 70's and will be playing some of his vinyl albums that I still own this weekend. One of my attractions to this website and to Neil has been his mutual admiration of John Renbourn. I really appreciate hearing Neil's stories about John and the video's of workshops he posted.

RIP John. You will be missed!
