Hi Andy, you can in Photoshop. As many as you can fit in. Sorry can't demonstrate because I don't have Photoshop loaded at present on my laptop.If you have Windows 7 then you use the Resize function.

When you first paste the image into paint, drag it into the upper left corner to focus on just the area you want in the picture.
Then just reduce the rest of the picture by grabbing the sizing handles on the right side and bottom.

After I found out he meant the excess whitespace that Windows Explorer adds to make the thumbnail displayable in the File manager.
Oh, THAT border... LOL Windows puts it there to size the image properly for the thumbnail. It's not really there, its just so Windows can display the thumbnail correctly.
