Hey if you have never seen Guitar Pro by French company Arobas then check them out at

They have this neat thing called RSE Real Sound Editor the various instruments actually sound like.. well.. real!!

I have used a few editors Tabledit, Power Tab and finally Guitar Pro currently on ver 5 and I unerstand 6 is on its way.

I use guitarpro and powertab and powertab librarian. I like guitar pro best. But I have a large set of powertab stuff. powertab librarian is very nice for searching directories of powertab files.

powertab has a problem that bugs me but I live with it. On playback the software synth setting on my sound control goes to max. Causing the audio to scream out.

I did import a couple midi files into the programs. That was intersting.
I primarily use them for playback of tab files which is very useful to me.
For I can listen to it to see if I want to any farther with it.

I have not mastered the ability to play the guitar while this is also playing the song.
It just takes off and I can't follow it. I usually print off the tab which guitarpro does the best job at. And then put it in folder for playback at the guitar. Whcih is not where the computer is.

These programs do repsent the possibility of using them for backing while playing one part of a song. Or having the program provide maybe drams in the background. But I have not explored it yet.

I also have tabedit but only one song in that. But the playback is interestng and different. It shows you the guitar fret board along with the tab and the notes being
played on it with fret position and note name. That can be found here:

As useful as this undoubtedly could be... I think it is breaking forum protocol to post a product (especially by the product owner) without permission of the site owners. You might want to check that.

Don't think TG would have a problem with Guitar Pro as they endorse it and encourage you to get it by using the link on this site. The others well they are not in competition really as they don't teach so maybe no problem. But I agree usually best to pm the Admin or TGMatt and ask first.
