Here are some lyrics I have been working on. It's sort of a nonsensical type of song.

Delf the Elf © 2009 Ric Steffen

Delf the Elf and his cousin Ralph
were lounging on a bench.
Said Delf to Ralph my pipes do leak
do you think I could borrow a wrench?
Now Ralph the Elf, not a generous sort,
began to ponder awhile.
Said Ralph to Delf, I have no tools
at which he began to smile.

I have place to stay said Delf
its cozy as can be.
Its snug and tight, but with a broken pipe
its kind of watery.
Now Ralph began to ponder this
for a place he had none.
A plan to get began to form
to get a place a plan begun.

Said Ralph to Delf, with great alacrity
a plumber I can be.

Still a work in progress, but I would be interested in comments and critiques.

Also, I would like to encourage others to share anything they may be working on, with the understanding that all posted material is copyrighted to the author/poster and should be treated as such.

Alright! Who spilled the grog? Poor Ric's fallen and has been breathing the fumes all day! Someone get the oxygen...

Ric,
Weird, but it could work out to be exceptionally funny as long as Delf forfeits the obviously coming audit. Lets face it, plumbing is a union job and Ralph is not a card carrying member. At least not according to Local 329.

Andy - the grog was not enough coffee and probably not enough sleep. This comes from a little story I would tell my grandkids about an elf that lives in my shirt pocket.

I decided early one morning to write a poem about him. Then I thought I might turn it into a song. I was actually thinking musically about something Sid Barrettish, like "The Gnome", or "Jugband Blues" or "Bike".

Oh, and I will make sure that all appropriate union dues are paid.

Funny. Sid would likely just go spacey on you.
I was actually thinking of something more Celtic in nature. Sort of a lively little tune.

If Cream can do a song from "Pressed Rat and Warthog" then "Delf" is definitely workable. I like it.

Dude... 3am in the morning here in Ireland and i'm just back from a night out. Your lyrics soung great at the moment, but I'm not about to shell out for the album on itunes just yet. Might wait till the morning and see how i feel. Probably a good move but you never know. I'll always wonder if i could have been the first.

Cheers Rod...

I went golfing for a week a few years ago in the Dublin area. Great place, great people, loved Temple Bar (this area is packed 7 days a week). Great vacation.

Have a good night

Marc
