In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Spirit Of ANZAC
Ode of remembrance.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young.
Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted,
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

The War to End All Wars!! It sure didn't turn out that way did it? WWI is the forgotten war yet is shaped geo-politcal events in Europe and here for a century.
There aren't many good WWI songs but one of my favorites is Garth Brooks cover of Belleau Woods, another deadly battle. The words in what you posted would form the lyrics for a great song. I'm not very talented in that arena but it might be worth a shot.
Thanks for posting this! This old Army ground pounder really enjoyed it! :cheer:
