In Mid November Pierre (Cosmicmechanic) and I met at his house . We have been trying to meet for 3-4 months since we live in the same area, but there was always something on one side or the other. But it finely worked out by mid November. Pierre offered to meet at his place. I also had a chance to meet with his wife, great people. He is a really easy going person and we had a great afternoon playing Layla, old man and comfortably numb. We did not have a camera so there is no trace but the next time , it will happen.

Thanks Craig Tony , Willem and Anton for posting your visits. Dennis, I love the idea of Skype where you can have image and voice together.

Hi Matt, I like the new community map format with the icon for the location. I see that it is still in the works, but it looks great.

These meetings are possible thanks to your great vision and the incredible amount of work TG is putting in

If you can all give it a good shakeup then that would be awesome, write some feedback under Target feedback place..all the features should work at present

When I visited Switzerland, I was in Basel toward the end of the week and knowing that Waggis (David) lives there, I contacted him. We met in a pub called Paddy Reilly" downtown. David give me the name of the pub which turned out to be 100 feet (30 meters) from my hotel, what are the odds! We had a few beers and a very interesting conversation. He had just passed his black belt second Dan in Taekwondo, that night. So I was quite happy that he took the time to meet with me om that special night . We like similar fingerpicking songs. Practicing for his exam took him away from his guitar for a little while.

As the collaboration shows I had the chance to meet with Chris at his house in Switzerland. He has a charming place with a huge music room. We played a few songs. It was the first time that we played together and we did pretty good. Chris has an incredible memory and remembers the words of a bunch of songs. He also have a lot of feel for his guitar playing. I hope we will have the chance to do a long distnace collaborati

I think this thread is an appropriate place to remind you all of one of the TG groups;

http://www.totallyguitars.com/allcommun ... uitar+Host

all about preparedness to host other TG members, add a bit of detail about what you can offer, whether its simply tour guide to full on hosting. We need a few more members fro this group. So if you are prepared to offer write up a bulletin notice. The Wall is not such a good place to write a notice I've found the bulletins seem to work better.

Check it out all travellers

It did take a while for the stars to align, but I really enjoyed the experience.

Marc has a solid technical base (he even had session with Neil) and gives good advice, without pretense ... sometimes a simple comment can have a major impact.

For example, in the very last minutes of our practice, he mentioned my picking fingers weren't firmly assigned to "home position" ... oh the grief ! Very ingrained bad habits ! The kind TG makes you resolve to break ... sometimes you have to take a few steps back so you can take a jump ahead.

So now, after some weeks of relearning how to walk, I'm getting close to playing correctly what I was playing randomly not so long ago.

It's also reassuring to know that you can meet a group of people who have a strong chance of playing some of the tunes that you already can play. If they are pleasant people like Marc, then go for it.

Yes, remember that Willem and Anton, one of TG's first visitations. Sound is much better on this version. Great!

Having Marc visit was just great, we invited David (Waggis) but he couldn't make it. Marc and I exchanged mail about which songs we'd like to do and we mapped out The Wreck and Come Together as two we'd do. We didn't get far on Wish you Were Here but did do a bunch of other songs shooting from the hip. As Pierre has mentioned, Marc is technically well versed so it was easy to play together although we came at the music and playing from two very different angles. Marc the technician who has the moves well anchored and understood and me playing by feel and sound (focusing on singing) not anchored in too much information about what I'm doing but trying to get the sound of the song. Marc is a bedroom picker and had only ever played with Pierre (and Neil!) before. I ahd played with two different friends who showed me the ropes and was used to following. Here I was leading with rhythm and had to get used to that role. Marc was adding in nice fills and licks and playing solos. We had a great 10 hours together and hope to collaborate in the future.

The community map is COOL! Everyone should go along and update their place of residence and it will then show up on the map if its not there already. I did and it worked fine.
