After all that I wonder if they ever do anything in NZ besides drink beer.

I never did like the taste of beer. It's bitter and just doesn't taste very good. Also Bud gives me very serious headaches within a few minutes of cracking one open.

Corona is not too bad.

I was a whiskey drinker. Jack Daniels Old No.7
Have not had a drop in about 2 years now. Nothing wrong with a drink now and again, as long as you don't get drunk. That's abuse in my book.

finding out ones favourite can be a full time job

my local beer store called "The Beer Store" thebeerstore.ca has way too may choices.

"The Beer Store offers more than 300 brands from over 70 brewers from around the world - and the selection continues to grow"

Can you imagine being commissioned to go around the world and a be a Beer Reviewer for some magazine? What day is it? Damn I have to go work today. lol

Back in my younger days while in the Navy, I drank San Miguel in the Philippines and Orion beer in Okinawa, Japan. Latter, I started to brew my own beer. I found from this experience that I am a hop head meaning the flavoring from the amount of hops used in the brewing process. Great aroma and simply delicious. All my beers were pale ales. A lot of work involved but very satisfying.

My roomate in university had a brew kit. He set it up in our bathroom! Pretty funny with all the tubes running everywhere. Made a good pint though!

But you're right Jim.. took a lot of time and patience.

Seeing Matt's commercials made me remember a video I edited many moons ago. I was given the task of taking ANY song and editing clips together from poplular beer commercials at the time (1990's).

Very fun project and it turned out pretty good. Gonna see if I can dig it up..

You can't go wrong with Ruination IPA or Hercules IPA
Ruination is a grand beer! Also, if you like Barley Wines, stones Old Guardian is tasty. Very Strong though with a whopping 12%+ content.... That'll get ya going!

Stone also has a great "Strong Ale" in their Arrogant Bastard and oak Aged Arrogant Bastard. Very good beers.....

6string: You lucky man! Where is that located? Bevmo is quite a goldmine as well. They seem to stock a good selection from all of the world. Currently they are looking for some Sleeman for me, as I requested a bit to see if Al knows what he is talking about......LOL

Well Andy: If you are drinking brands such as Bud and Corona, THAT is you problem....lol. The only thing Bud is good for, is a guaranteed poo in the morning....lol Corona is O.K. if you are at the beach and that is all that is offered (listen to me - quite a beer snob.....). The pale ales and ambers have a much sweeter start with a nice hoppy bite at the end. Especially the IPA's.... Oh the caramel flavor..... yummy!

Whiskey is good as well, as long as it is not a cheap rot gut style and only in small amounts for me.....

I'd agree with you on the getting drunk thing if it was a daily thing, but once in a while at a gathering of friends or a concert or such doesn't seem so bad. Like anything else in life, it is a matter of moderation (IMHO).

I also happen to be lucky in the fact that it does not take much to get me going. My wife says I am a cheap date....lol I get sick easy, so it has been a blessing and kept me on the level in my drinking career....

:)
