So I know about transponders but not the 7500 code! My banjo buddy owns a Cesna 182 and tried to get me to learn to fly (which I always wanted to do). But being a diabetic, the FAA in-flight testing requirements were so onerous it wasn't worth the effort.
I like the concept of the "Flying Preacher". It's sort of a modern version of the old preacher that rode a horse around the county to see his flock. You just do it in an amphib!
No wonder I didn't get it!! I've been working at an airport for the last year building and extending taxiways and runways. The airport I was at (HIO) is the primary field for all of Nike's (and Intel's) travel so Michael Jordan and Tiger fly in there all the time. It was fun trying to see who was there.LOL.
I'm a Pilot. the transponder in the plane is how the tower knows who you are. If you set it to the code 7500 it means you've been hijacked and you should expect to see some fighter jets very soon.

Good luck trying to own a plane. My research said it is a VERY expensive hobby! And you need to keep your $$$$ for TARGET dues! After I bludgeoned you into joining! LOL!!
That's exactly right! I live about 10 minutes from there. Very nice airfield. Actually the second busiest in the state after PDX. It has a 6,600' main runway and a 4,100' secondary.Hilsboro outside of Portland.
