Flying can be an expensive hobby, but mostly because planes cost upwards of 100 grand. This particular one will run me maybe 30K with all the trimmings because its small and only carries two people.

Yeh, but they don't give the fuel away anymore and annuals aren't cheap either. Are you VFR or IFR qual'd?

VFR only. If someone would like to donate, I can get my IFR ticket.... LOL
I can do my own annuals on this particular plane.

You probably don't need IFR in Hawaii since the weather is so great. We get bad fog and low ceilings so I wouldn't fly around here, except in the summer, without it.

I'll bet you have some interesting flight patterns and restricted air space with all the military there. We don't have any military until you go 180 miles north to Seattle or about the same to Klamath Falls.

Yeah. we all share the same runways in Honolulu and they just come screaming in just under the speed limit. (250 under 10,000 feet)

I was a gliding instructor way back when I lived in Scotland, (27yrs ago) I flew with the RAFVRT so it didn't cost me a bean. Gave it up when I came to NZ as I couldn't afford it, wish i'd kept it up though I do miss flying. My Airforce job was a ground position as an Educationalist and Administration so not much flying really

I love to fly. I'm flying to Kona tomorrow for work and Tuesday I'm flying to Maui.
that is pretty much the main redeeming thing about my job. Its part time and I do a lot of flying from island to island. I think I'm going to be changing to full time ministry this year though. I just have a feeling...
If I do, that is going to cut my flying by a huge amount.

Chas, we have some incredible gliding here. You should visit. Bear too. He can play the musical interlude for out flights...
