I do confess to taking a tandem delta flight: Just stood on the edge of Swiss mountain with a clear 3000 foot drop and stepped into space. So much fun! But I was younger and more invincible in those days... and didn't have a child to think of....

Our jumpmasters put girls first in line to jump to shame us guys. But they still shoved you out if you hesitated.

The day after I graduated high school, a friend and I did an "accelerated free fall" program, where we jumped with two Jumpmasters, did a free fall for about 7000 feet, pulled our own rip chord, and spent the time alone under the canopy to the ground. It was awesome.

Only problem: the Jumpmasters offered us (18 yr olds at the time) 6-packs of beer if we could stand the landings up first try. Of course, we couldn't -- I came in way to fast, and did my parachute landing roll and was fine. My friend came in way too fast and tried to stand anyway and broke his ankle.

Is the point to PROVE or DISPROVE Newton's Universal Law Of Gravitation? :)

The proof is in the landing.

A TARGET member jumps out of a perfectly good airplane and free falls 5,000 feet and then pulls his ripcord. Nothing happens. He immediately reaches for his reserve and pulls the handle. The handle comes off in his hand.

As he is falling to his doom, he sees a speck below him growing larger and larger. He realizes it's a man coming up at him from below. As they near each other the TARGET members shouts "Hey, do you know anything about parachutes?"

The other guy, now flying up and past him shouts back, "No, do you know anything about gas stoves?"

Cheers! :cheer:

It takes a combination of absolute courage , and absolute illogical stupidity to do this..

THis is why I did the same over the Whitsunday Islands near the Barrier reef...

My girl was standing on the landing area and as I landed within 10 metres of her, and she approached as I became disconnected her jaw dropped as I calmly said to her .." I need the credit card ..Im going again"

I know exactly how this feels...nothing compares..nothing

Great post
