As an aside, we should be wishing happy birthday to Gordon Lightfoot today, who I believe turned 71.

Great Big Sea!! Great, feel-good maritime rock.

Funny story about these guys..
I do a lot of traveling for work, and ran into a group of musicians at an airport in Canada. I asked who they were and what their band name was.

'Great Big Sea', the guy replied.

'Never heard of ya.' I smirked

'You will', he said.

Nice goin' boys!!!

BTW- See them LIVE if you ever get the chance!

'When I'm Up'

'Ordinary Day'

'Consequence Free'

Al, this is great that you are posting David Wilcox. I have been wanting to do it for a while and kept forgetting about it.I saw him In Halifax Nova Scotia about 15 years ago. I still have good vibes from his show. He likes to party. He kept drinking throughout his show and was getting half dressed, but he sure knows how to keep a crowd excited for 2 hours.

Karma for posting about David.

He does put on a great show! I think he gave up drinking a long time ago though. Also, he's got THE BEST guitar faces ever!

..and how could I forget his classic- 'Layin' Pipe'?!

November 22 was a sad day in Canadian music. Haydain Neale of Jacksoul died of lung cancer. He was only 39.

He had an amazing soulful voice.. here's a few of his gems..

'Cant' Stop'

'Still Believe'

Suzi and I have been chatting about high school reunions. Made me think of this great song by Canadian Idol finalist - Hedley. The song is called 'Old School', and it strikes a chord with me.

Enjoy.. and reminisce about your highschool daze...

An excellent cover of Rush's song "Subdivisions" by Canadian folksinger/song writer Jacob Moon. I never would have thought this song could be done in such a pared down way, but it totally works. I'm almost thinking it could be posted in the "Covers that are better than the original" thread. Thanks to Wadestar for introducing this song to me:
