In deference to our neighbours in Scotland, Wales and Ireland, I haven't called this the UK music thread, as they all have their own music scenes which rightly deserve their own respect and recognition.

So with that in mind, can I just start with

and

and

Not a bad start eh? and I didn't even mention the Beatles, or Cream..or etc etc

Seriously, is there enough band-width on the net for this thread? Where do we start: Moody Blues, Beatles, Alan Parsons, Pink Floyd, The Hollies, (can we have Annie Lenox?)even AMERICA has English roots.. don't they? George Michael, Cold Play, Queen, David Bowie... there will be no end....

And something I've been wondering about for a while... no one has mentioned Chris Rea on TG (hey Joe, isn't he one of yourn?).

Hi Chris

He's not quite a Sunderland lad, he's from about 30 minutes down the road in middlesborough, still class him as local though.

Saw an interview with him in one of the national newspapers at the start of the week, he's had some serious ilnesses over the last few years, still been making great music even with all that. Good luck to him.

Joe
