May be we need a lyrics section (maybe there's something like this somewhere already) but I couldn't find any other place than here in Off Topic to place this.

Maybe you've been influenced by a song's lyrics. Maybe you've heard a line in a song that just said it ALL at the right moment for you. Maybe you've found your thoughts turning round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel, never ending nor beginning like an ever spinning reel, after hearing a song. Or maybe you've been plagued in a near death situation like the British mountaineer stuck 7'000 meters up an Andes mountain, left for dead with no water or provisions but with a broken leg lying in delirium thinking he was going to die to the irritating tune of Boney M's Brown Girl in The Ring playing incessantly in his head (I seriously hope not!!). Let us hear about the lyrics that mean something to you or just sound so good.

The Windmills of your Mind, I've already quotes above, as you all rightly guessed, of course! I'd offer the following too:

"Over a barrel, under a spell, money's the daemon that drives you,
Limping through heaven or running through Hell,
Happiness smile but denies you."
- Dan Fogelberg, In Times Like These

"Life is what happens to you while your busy making other plans"
- John Lennon, Beautiful Boy

"I don't know where we went wrong,
The feelings gone and I just can't get it back."
- Gordon Lightfoot, If You could Read My Mind

Jackson Brown - The Pretender

Caught between the longing for love
And the struggle for the legal tender
Where the sirens sing and the church bells ring
And the junk man pounds his fender
Where the veterans dream of the fight
Fast asleep at the traffic light
And the children solemnly wait
For the ice cream vendor
Out into the cool of the evening
Strolls the pretender
He knows that all his hopes and dreams
Begin and end there

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
Fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say

Sorry, meant to highlight the following lines

And you are young and life is long and there is time to kill today
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Don Henley must have came up with this after a few
guitar lessons from Neil.

"The more I know, the less I understand
All the things I thought I knew, Im learning again."

You got it dmac909! That and and "black holes in the sky" must be Floyd's best. The lines above come to mind again and again.
And welcome to the forums... a well spent first post!

Jackson Browne:

"Looking Into You"

And I looked into the sky for my anthem
And the words and the music came through
But words and music could never touch the beauty that I've seen
Looking into you, and that's true.

Tom Petty:

"Crawling Back to You"

I'm so tired of being tired
Sure as night will follow day
Most things I worry about
Never happen anyway

(that is so me.....)

Well I woke up Sunday morning,
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt.
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad,
So I had one more for dessert.
