Presently (for the last 21 years)I'm a Senior Test Engineer for a company that designs and develops Automatic Test Equipment used to test semiconductors. I have a BSET degree from Northeastern University here in Massachusetts. I enjoy guitar(of course), motorcycles, and woodworking when I am not at work.

Lets hear what your occupation is ...
Like most of us I have had a varied work history but currently I am a Director for a Project Management firm that specializes in Development Assistance, in other words delivering programs in primarily 3rd world countries. Our main client is AusAID which is very similar to USAid. We manage a large portion of the Australian Government Volunteer Program, sending young and not so young Australians overseas for periods of between 12 months and 3 years. Again, the US equivalent is the Peace Corps program. We also work very collaboratively with the Canadian equivalent which is called CIDA. We manage a very large scholarships program (by Australian standards) which brings people from all over the world to study for their Masters and PhD in Australian Universities. My work environment is good, we have a lot of very well traveled and well educated young people who have a good balance between altruism and realism in my humble opinion. Doesn't mean like everyone I don't have my bad days but generally it's a positive environment.
Guys- Not trying to "hijack" the thread, but thank you for your kind and supportive words. Honestly, I'm grateful that I'm lucky enough to be able to choose to be a stay-at-home mother, and I know that my family benefits immensely from my being there for them. I wasn't trying to be self-deprecating. I'm happy about what I do. All the same, I don't think you can call my job "glamorous!" Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming......

Jeannie is a stay-at-home mom as well. I can tell you, that she works her tail off. You ladies really should be carrying degrees in domestic engineering. I know that my sons are going to be so much better off from having her support and love at these formative years. Man, can you even imagine if it was my influence at these years......that should send shivers down everyone's spine....lol I agree with haoli25, your job is probably one of the most important jobs anyone could have!
I am really glad Matt started this thread! It is very cool for me to learn a bit more about all of the great folks here. We all do what we need to do for survival. I am just glad we have the guitar to chill us out when it is needed. Keep sharing everyone!

Family doctor in southern California. Picked up the guitar again in July and have practiced every day since. A site like this really helps - trying to go through the music theory part in Target - it does make the head hurt a little. Like medicine it's really it's own language.
Happy Holidays all!

I studied physical education at Loughborough University, U.K. did my time as a school teacher and moved quickly into the world of sport and coaching. I have coached tennis and squash professionally and clocked up over 25’000 hours there. I am an autodidact and have taught myself everything I can do from sport to guitar playing. I created a new kind of squash court and series of learning games and sold the idea to ASB Babinsky the world’s leading squash court makers in the 90’s. I now do the coach education for Swiss Squash, run the junior tournaments and give courses at the National Sports School for the University of Bern sport students and for youth/sport coaches. That is about 50% of my work. The other half is spent on Mind Management, coaching the mental aspects of high performance to sports people, juniors and management professionals. Part of MM involves neurofeedback training (brain wave training) which a lot of top US sports people use, but it’s not yet wide spread in Europe. I believe, I am first to do this in Switzerland. It’s varied and worthwhile work which has given me the opportunity of cooperating with wonderful people from all walks of life. I especially love working with kids. When my daughter was younger, I was there for her 90% as enough income came from the ASB Rainbow Court at the time and allowed me this incredible privilege. It is the most important thing I have ever done.
I guess it's my turn. I completed my BA degree in Psychology from San Diego State University & moved to Fresno CA. I worked for the US Treasury Dept, Internal Revenue Service in the Personnel Department for 8 years. After that I worked as a "Benefits Specialist" for a Center for Independent Living for 5 years. I then got my Real Estate Brokers license and owned my own business in residential and commercial Real Estate sales and also was a Real Estate Mortgage Broker for 8 years. I moved to Grass Valley CA in 1991 & returned to my job as a "Benefits Specialist" providing services & Information % Referral to seniors and people with disabilities, helping them to live as independently as possible in their community; often with the aid of Assistive Technology, full time starting in 1991 & in 2008, cutting back to 20 hours weekly as my first step into retirement. I helped started a 501 (c) 3 Non Profit business in 1985, providing services to the community. It is still active & I am the President of the company. I am now devoting more time to my own interests, especially the Guitar. Gary
Mostly, I've been in the education arena for the last 35 years. I taught at various levels, mostly high school social studies, for 18 years. For the last 14 years I've been a school counselor. Have also worked during tax season as a preparer, built cabinets, re-surfaced concrete (decorative and textured), and delivered pizzas. Not unlike many teachers who work at second jobs so the wife can stay home as a full-time mom. I was even licensed and sold health insurance policies for a year, then got a counseling position.
Kudos to Suzi, Jeannie and all full-time moms. From an educator's standpoint I will attest that it almost always makes a positive difference!
Hobbies, obviously, include guitar and playing with other guys in a band. Old guys + old songs = great fun!!!
(Anyone need help with your 1040 or filing the FAFSA? Help me with strumming Long Train Running and you've got a deal!)
