Well, if Tenacious D and School of Rock make the list, I'm definitely suggesting A Hard Day's Night and Help! and the rest of The Beatles' movies.
Also, Back To The Future, because M.J. Fox rocks.

What about guitar playing from the musicals made into movies?
(ok, couldn't find a clip from the movie, but here's the song)

Just saw a movie I'd never heard of before -- A Love Song For Bobby Long. Guitar playing isn't central, but one could argue music is. There are some great songs, and guitar playing, in the movie; definitely noticed how important to its mood the guitar is. You'll notice John Travolta with a guitar in his hand several times in the trailer below.
The movie is most definitely worth a rental... I thought it was great.

My ex-classmate who was playing bass for Jefferson Starship at the time introduced me to John Lee Hooker in San Fransisco years ago. He was pretty smashed at the time and miss-spelled his name on my autograph (got it right the second time). God Rest His Soul. I've been a huge fan ever since. This clip from the Blues Brothers is a classic.
