The Mayans would have been better remembered for their great psychic ability if they had actually predicted the downfall of their own civilization 1100 years ago. :laugh:

The next paragraph is just sarcasm, arguing to the contrary but being just as clueless as those who invent these predictions of doom.

The Mayans said: "Hey we gotta carve a calendar into some rock and put it someplace hard to get to where we can maybe sacrifice some humans to keep the gods off our backs (the economy stinks). Let's not make it so heavy we can't move it where we want it. OK guys: what size stone and what can we fit on it ?"

Seriously though, it takes a bit of effort to really explain the subtleties of the meaning and method of using this calendar.

just finished reading Dan Brown's 'the lost symbol' - that gives a pretty nice perspective on the 2012 thing...

1776.... was said as.. seveteen seventy six...
1865.... was said as.. eighteen sixty five...
1999.....was said as.. nineteen ninety nine...

then... 2010 should be said as...twenty ten..see how easy that is...lol
