AS Matt suggested, I'll kick off with my very own personal thread about the music that has served as the soundtrack to my life. Soundtrack to My Life was also the name I gave to my songbook with the 200 songs I most like to play.

We had a lot of classical and classic pop sounds filling the house when I was small... this is one of them and a fitting kick off to my thread, especially as I now live in Switzerland. Wilhelm Tell Overture:

Another one which I really loved as a child war Grieg's Hall of The Mountain King from the Peer Gynt Suit:

Beautiful pieces of music. Both of them. Great choices.

I grew up with both of these too, and Beethoven's 7th and 1st symphonies. I used to ask my parents to play these records (you know, the black vinyl kind) for me until I got old enough to do it myself.

This was another that was always revolving on the turntable at 33 rpm:

And, of course, for a Brit, Gilbert and Sullivan:

I remember the exact moment I first heard this song, like it was yesterday.

The first time I heard "I want to hold your hand" I was with an older cousin, He said, "Listen to these guys, they're good!" I knew from the first time I heard the song there was something very different and very appealing about the Beatles. Like Dennis, the memory is vivid and exact as to time and place. And I was only two years old.
