gotta wonder what specifics the person requested that makes this guitar different, besides the koa. I love koa, a bit more mellow than myrtlewood and without the balls of ironwood.

I don't know, but I'd just get a brand new Taylor 916ce for $4k.

if I was spending that kind of money, I'd be in the market for a McCollum, Ryan, Olson, Wingert, sobell, or manzer

Matt,

This is a beautiful guitar -- well worth the current bid. Martin signature editions usually have much larger runs, so maybe there's some additional collector value I could not really assess.

I guess you're aware of its size and are thinking it would make a good travel guitar -- maybe planning to buy it as the prize for the songwriting competition?

Matt

Just an idea I had, if you're looking to pay this amount for a guitar, is it going to be an investment, or a one you're going to want to play a lot, or a bit of both?

I don't have experience of owning high end guitars, but I was wondering, for the prices on the ebay adverts, couldnt you get a guitar custom made to your own specifications? I may be wrong, but wouldn't Neil be able guide you towards specifications and builders?

The claxton is a great sounding guitar, something like that maybe- or are their values above the ebay ones?

Joe
